Is Greenhithe in your area for bathroom resealing?
Yes, Greenhithe is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and let us know what needs doing.
Do you cover smaller places like Greenhithe?
Yes, Greenhithe is covered. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We are approved under the ARBOMaster scheme.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Always. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
The surface skins over fairly quickly, but the bead needs longer to cure right through. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.
What sealant do you use?
Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. Every job carries our one-year guarantee.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes. More than one area can be quoted together.
How we handle bathroom resealing in Greenhithe
Homes in Greenhithe have the same weak spots as anywhere else: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. We are often asked to deal with cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone and a joint torn by a bath that flexes, on kitchen worktops & upstands, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures.
In and around Greenhithe, older properties sit alongside newer ones. In older homes, walls and floors can move a little more, so the right flexible sealant matters.
A 12-month guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Bathroom resealing in Greenhithe: local notes
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Schools such as Knockhall Primary School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Rented homes near Greenhithe for Bluewater station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

How to look after the new joints
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Move toiletries away from the joint
- Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
- Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.
Watch for the early signs: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.
What sealant work cannot fix
In fairness, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:
- Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will say what we think.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Greenhithe
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:
- When we can work, for business premises
- The type of sealant required
- Access and height
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.
What to tell us for a quote
You do not need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:
- The rough size of the job
- Whether it has been sealed before
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- The problem you’ve noticed
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints.
Can I do it myself?
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Why deal with it now?
A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it won’t bond. It lifts, traps water and grows mould behind it. Homes in smaller places like Greenhithe can face more weather, and failed outside joints let damp into walls. Indoors, a failed seal lets water into floors and panels as it would anywhere.
Doing several joints on one visit usually makes better use of the time than several visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.

How the visit works
You don’t need to clear the whole room or building before we come, just the space around the work. Everything nearby is protected, and the work takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen in most cases. For a job in Greenhithe, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any tricky access
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive

How the job changes by surface
Basins & vanity units
Basins take less water than showers, but the joint behind them is splashed every day. Corners behind basins are where mould tends to start, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.
Baths
A bath shifts slightly every time it’s filled, so it’s filled with water before the bead goes on. The joint is then laid with the bath at its lowest point and is not stretched when it’s used.
