About our bathroom resealing in Glespin
Sealant is the soft line between a bath, shower or worktop and the wall. When it splits, shrinks or turns black, water gets behind it into walls, panels and floors. Every trace of the old sealant is taken out and replaced with anti-fungal sanitary silicone. If you have smears of silicone across the tiles and shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
For a place like Glespin, the job is the same as anywhere: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, large or small.

How it works
Our applicators work methodically: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower, and the area is left clean. Somewhere like Glespin may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
Before we arrive
- Clear the area around the work
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.
What bathroom resealing looks like in Glespin
In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.
In and around Glespin, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint. Whether the job is in Glespin itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

Glespin questions
Is bathroom resealing in Glespin guaranteed?
Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Do you cover smaller places like Glespin?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Should I try DIY first?
It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.
How much does bathroom resealing cost in Glespin?
We don’t publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. We agree the price before any work begins.
What should I tell you?
Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
The surface skins over fairly quickly, but the bead needs longer to cure right through. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.
My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?
Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Airing the room well helps stop it returning.
When something else is needed
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- A leaking waste, trap or valve
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Baths
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Wet rooms
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Basins & vanity units
Surface by surface
Baths
A bath shifts slightly every time it’s filled, so it’s filled with water before the bead goes on. That way the joint is laid with the bath at its heaviest.
Shower trays & enclosures
The vertical joint where a screen profile meets the wall is a common leak point. It’s resealed along with the tray joints, following the enclosure maker’s guidance on which side to seal.
Quotes for bathroom resealing in Glespin
Jobs vary more than people expect. The main factors:
- The type of sealant required
- Any working-time requirements on site
- The number and length of the joints
- Any mould that needs treating
Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you’re unsure, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.
Asking for a quote
To make quoting easier, please include:
- A few photos by email, if you can
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- How we’d reach the joints
- The problem you’ve noticed
We do not publish a price list. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
How to look after the new joints
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Give the silicone its full cure time
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
Don’t stand bottles along the bead, because they trap water against the silicone. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use helps the joint dry.
There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.
Can I do it myself?
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.
A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly.
