What happens on the day

We bring everything the job needs with us, so you don’t need to buy or prepare anything. After a quick look at the joints together, we protect the area and start. It normally takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. For a place like Easterhouse, longer drives are planned in advance. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Bathroom resealing in Easterhouse, done properly

A fresh bead of silicone changes how a bathroom looks more than most people expect. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a clean white or clear joint fixes it quickly. It also seals the gaps that let water behind the bath. If you have shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off, we can put it right.

In and around a place like Easterhouse, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.

Our work is backed for twelve months, in Easterhouse and everywhere else we cover.

What we’re called out for in Easterhouse

Sealing over old silicone is one of the commonest mistakes we find. Fresh silicone cannot grip the old bead underneath, so it lifts, lets water in and traps mould underneath.

People generally contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
  • Mouldy sealant that has gone black
  • Water escaping at the shower enclosure
  • Water getting behind the kitchen upstand

If you look after a building such as St. Leonard's Secondary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Why deal with it now?

A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, turning a small job into a building repair. In an older home around Easterhouse, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.

Doing several joints on one visit generally makes better use of the time than several visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.

Why us?

  • Homes, businesses and hotels
  • Approved under the ARBOMaster scheme
  • Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas
  • A choice of colours where the product allows

What the job involves on each surface

Baths

Most bath leaks begin along the long edge, especially under a shower. We finish it with a single, even bead of anti-fungal silicone, tooled so water cannot sit on it.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Kitchen joints need more degreasing than bathroom ones, because cooking grease stops sealant bonding. The extra cleaning is what makes the bead last.

Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?

Yes, often alongside a bathroom. Where it’s needed by the sink, we use a food-safe sealant.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us and we are fully insured.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in Easterhouse?

The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Ask us for a quote.

Will there be a smell?

There can be a smell while the sealant cures, but it fades. Ventilation helps.

Is it messy?

We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected, and we clear up when we’re done.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Easterhouse

Glasgow has a lot of sandstone tenements, so many bathrooms sit right above a neighbour’s ceiling. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.

Rented homes near Easterhouse station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. For an older house near a landmark such as Saint Benedict's Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Aftercare tips

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:

  • Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
  • Keep bottles off the sealant line
  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then
  • Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet

Clean the silicone with care: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, and a nicked bead lets mould in sooner.

Small signs come before a leak: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. Any of these means the joint needs attention.
