How we handle bathroom resealing in Crieff

Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Crieff. We’re fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. If you have leaking joints on a shower screen and smears of silicone across the tiles, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

Bathrooms in smaller places like Crieff work just as hard as those in the cities. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, large or small.

The process

Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. For most jobs that takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers, and the area is left clean. In smaller Scottish places, parking is generally less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.

  1. We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
  5. We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in

How to look after the new joints

So the new joints stay in good condition:

  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
  • Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
  • Keep bottles off the sealant line

Have a look at the joints every few months. Small splits and lifting ends are easy to catch early, and if anything looks wrong, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.

DIY versus a professional finish

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again.

How the job changes by surface

Sinks & splashbacks

Water getting under the rim of an inset sink can soak the worktop. Where the sealant around the visible edge has failed, we renew it.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

The joint between worktop and wall takes splashes, crumbs and cleaning sprays. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows, so the line doesn’t stand out.

Questions from Crieff

Do you cover Crieff for bathroom resealing?

Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Crieff is part of that. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Do you work for hotels and guest houses in Crieff?

Yes, hotels and guest houses are among the places we work. A room-by-room programme keeps most rooms in use while the work goes on.

How long will the resealing take?

That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. For most single baths or showers, allow a couple of hours.

What should I tell you?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

Can you just seal over the old silicone?

No. A bead laid over old silicone soon starts to come away, because silicone doesn’t bond to silicone. We remove the old bead completely before resealing.

Is it messy?

Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator and we’re fully insured too.

Is white the only colour available?

There’s a choice: clear, white and colours chosen to suit the room. We will talk it through when we quote.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Crieff

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we’ll quote.

For anyone letting property in or around Crieff, jobs at different addresses can be quoted together. Send us the addresses and the work at each, and pictures by email help.

Why it’s worth doing now in Crieff

Fresh sealant smartens a bathroom or kitchen with very little disruption, which matters if you are letting a property or selling it. A smeared, uneven DIY bead does the opposite. Around Crieff, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.

The cost depends on the amount of work, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before work begins.

Why book with us

  • Approved under the ARBOMaster scheme
  • Fully insured
  • White, clear, grey or coloured to suit, where the product allows
  • Old sealant always removed completely

Bathroom resealing around Crieff

There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Crieff. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.

If you live in an older home near St Michael's Hall, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Schools such as Morrison's Academy are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
