Our bathroom resealing service in PH7
Sealant that’s mouldy, cracked or peeling is worth sorting before it lets water through. A photo of the joints helps when you email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk, and we’ll give you a clear price for bathroom resealing in PH7. Common call-outs are for failed sealant on the screen profile and gaps between the worktop and the wall, across baths, basins & vanity units and wet rooms.
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The job generally takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen from start to finish.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.
What you will pay
No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.
What you get with us
- White, clear, grey or coloured to suit, where the product allows
- Full insurance on every job
- Sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive in wet areas
- We never seal over old sealant

Near you in Crieff
Typical jobs here are in homes near The Pretoria Public House, St Michael's Hall and Morrison's Academy and the streets around them. Well-known places in the area include Crieff Community Hospital (under half a mile south-west) and Crieff and Strathearn Museum (under half a mile west). The countryside around Crieff includes Loch Monzievaird.
Bathrooms and kitchens across PH7
Our bathroom resealing work across PH7 covers homes, rentals and businesses, from Crieff, Gilmerton and St David's to the quieter places in between. The method is the same everywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.
The west of Scotland is wetter than the east, but outside joints take plenty of weather everywhere, while generally soft water means less limescale indoors but no less mould. Sealants for jobs in PH7 are chosen with that in mind.
Crieff: Homes close to St Michael's Hall include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Managing a site like Morrison's Academy? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
Can I do it myself?
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
Why deal with it now?
Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but where mould is inside the silicone it usually comes back. The lasting answer is to remove the bead and start again.
What your quote should include
- The length of the guarantee
- What the cure time is
- What insurance they hold
- Whether VAT is included
Why it fails
A bath shifts a little every time it’s filled and emptied. Acrylic in particular gives slightly under the weight of water and a person, and a tray that is not fully bedded can rock. Over time the joint tears or pulls away from the tile.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
How to look after the new joints
Aftercare is simple:
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
- Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
- Move toiletries away from the joint
Treat the new bead gently when you clean: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.
A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Resealing early stops it.
When it is not the sealant
Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant will not put right:
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
Questions from PH7
Can I do it myself?
It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.
Do you cover PH7?
Yes. We cover PH7 and the rest of Perth and Kinross. For a quote, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover PH7, along with the rest of our area.
Does someone need to be in?
If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.
Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?
Yes. Worktops, sinks and splashbacks are all part of the job, with a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows.
How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?
It takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. You will know how long to expect before work begins.
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.
