Questions from Arradoul

What guarantee comes with bathroom resealing in Arradoul?

All our work, in Arradoul and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Do you cover Arradoul for bathroom resealing?

Yes, Arradoul is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We’re fully insured.

Is it worth trying it myself?

That depends on the joint. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes, always, and completely. New sealant won’t bond properly to old, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes. More than one area can be quoted together.

Where do you work from?

We work from Crawley. Our applicators cover Arradoul, along with the rest of our area.

Bathroom resealing in Arradoul, done properly

Across Arradoul, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: bath edges, tray joints, basin backs and kitchen upstands. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. If you have water getting behind the bath panel and a bead that has pulled away from the tiles, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

For a place like Arradoul, the job is the same as anywhere: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.

Each job carries a 12-month guarantee.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Arradoul

Arradoul is within about 2 miles of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

How the visit works

Once we’re on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. Outside jobs in Arradoul need a dry day, because sealant won’t bond to a wet joint, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:

  • Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
  • A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported

If in doubt, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think.

Where we work in Arradoul

  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands

Surface by surface

Shower trays & enclosures

The vertical joint where a screen profile meets the wall is a common leak point. It’s resealed along with the tray joints, sealing the side the enclosure’s instructions call for.

Baths

Acrylic baths flex the most, while steel and cast iron baths move less but still settle when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.

Should I try it myself first?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Arradoul

From a single let to a portfolio, the work is the same standard: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. We can quote for more than one property at once.

Common problems we fix in Arradoul

Baths and trays move. Acrylic in particular gives slightly under the weight of water and a person, and a tray that is not fully bedded can rock. That movement works at the bead until it splits or peels away.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Mouldy sealant that has gone black
  • Smears of silicone across the tiles
  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall

In and around Arradoul, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Before booking anyone

  • Is VAT in the price?
  • When the joint can take water or movement
  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why

10 questions to ask before you book

Keeping the joints in good condition

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Keep bottles off the sealant line
  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Wait for the cure time we give you
  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then

Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, following the cure time we give you. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.

Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
