Regrouting in The Sands, Surrey
We cover The Sands for raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly.
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Shower grout that has worn away
Leave it or put it right?
Colouring the surface of old grout is a quick cosmetic fix. They don’t fill cracks or stop water and stains often come back through. A proper regrout puts new grout in the joint. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like The Sands, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
We do not show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote.

Regrouting for homes and businesses in The Sands
Stained, crumbling or cracked grout can make a sound bathroom look tired. With regrouting, the tiles stay and only the grout is renewed, so nothing is ripped out. We are often asked to deal with grout in corners that has cracked and grout in a colour the owner wants to change, on tiled floors, shower walls and kitchen splashbacks.
In a village or hamlet like The Sands, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

How we quote for regrouting
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- The number and length of the joints
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- Working hours on commercial sites
- The product the joint needs
The cost depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. You will have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.
Asking for a quote
You do not need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:
- The rough size of the job
- If someone has resealed it before
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- The problem you’ve noticed
Getting a quote is simple: tell us what needs doing and where. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we’ll come back to you with a quote.
DIY versus a professional finish
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
When something else is needed
We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
- Cracked or broken tiles
- A leaking shower valve or waste
Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will tell you honestly.

What happens on the day
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and explain the cure time. The visit itself normally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room, depending on the amount of work. Somewhere as small as The Sands, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Tell us about any water getting in

Regrouting around The Sands
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
In the older streets around The Church of the Good Shepherd, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Rented homes near Farnham station change hands often, and stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right. Schools such as South Farnham School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Kitchen splashbacks
Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.
Bathroom floors
Floor grout takes foot traffic as well as water. It gets worn and dirty.
