About our regrouting in Redding
Grout is the filler between your tiles, while sealant goes where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop. When grout cracks or washes out, water can get in behind the tiles. We rake it out and replace it and renew the silicone at the edges. We work on wet rooms, kitchen splashbacks and shower walls, and the jobs we see most are dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor and splashback grout that has darkened.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Redding work just as hard as those in the cities. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.
You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything is not right with it, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

FAQs for Redding
Do you work for landlords with property near Polmont station?
Yes, we work for landlords and agents. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before we start.
Do you work for hotels and guest houses in Redding?
Yes, we work for hotels as well as homes and businesses. A room-by-room programme keeps most rooms in use while the work goes on.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we are part of it.
How much does regrouting cost in Redding?
We don’t publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. We agree the price before any work begins.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done and you’ll get one quote.
Do you work in Redding?
Yes. We work in Redding and the rest of Falkirk, as part of our work across South East England, London and Scotland. For a quote, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes, every time. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
Loose or hollow tiles are a sign of a problem behind them. Grout on its own won’t fix that and we will say so before going ahead.
Should I try it myself first?
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
What happens if it’s left?
Bleach can lighten stained grout for a while, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

How we quote for regrouting
There’s no set price list, because jobs vary so much. What we look at:
- The number of rooms or windows
- The number and length of the joints
- When we can work, for business premises
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.
Helping us quote
When you call or email, these details help:
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- Photos by email, if that is easy
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- What’s wrong with the joints now
For a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. We’ll give you a clear quote before any work starts.
What happens on the day
We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we are working on, so you can get on with your day. Expect the work to take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. Outdoor work around Redding depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- Dust is cleared from every joint.
- The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts

Related advice
How the job changes by surface
Corners and edges
The joint between tiles and a bath, tray or worktop gets silicone. Grout in that joint wouldn’t last.
Kitchen splashbacks
Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Stained grout is best replaced.

Signs you need regrouting in Redding
Soap scum and limescale build up on grout and stick to it. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.
The most common problems we see are:
- Good tiles let down by tired grout
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Grout washed out of a shower
- Grout in corners that has cracked
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Graeme High School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Regrouting around Redding
Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.
If you live in an older home near Brightons Parish Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Letting a property close to Polmont station? Then stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.
