Regrouting in Newbridge
Regrouting suits shower walls, bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and wet rooms. It can be a full room, others just the shower. Whatever the size, the method stays the same. We work on bathroom wall tiles, tiled floors and kitchen splashbacks, and common reasons people get in touch are crumbling grout between the tiles and greasy, stained grout behind the hob.
Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
All our work is covered by a 12-month guarantee, wherever you are in Dumfries and Galloway.

What we can’t put right
New sealant cannot fix everything, and we will tell you before work begins. Sealant will not put right:
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
- A structure that flexes behind the tiles
Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Quotes for regrouting in Newbridge
Jobs vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:
- How easy the joints are to reach
- The product the joint needs
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Mould in or behind the old joints
What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we ask a few questions first and agree the price before starting.
What to tell us for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:
- How we’d reach the joints
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- If someone has resealed it before
- The problem you’ve noticed
Asking for a quote is easy: tell us what needs doing and where and its rough size. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we will take it from there.
For landlords and businesses
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.
Signs you need regrouting in Newbridge
Hard water and soap leave a film on grout that is hard to shift. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, which is when replacing it makes sense.
Any of these means the joints need attention:
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
- Grout that is cracking and breaking up
- Stained grout that cleaning won’t shift
Rented homes near Dumfries station change hands often, and stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

Aftercare tips
Aftercare is simple:
- Skip wire brushes and scourers
- Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
- Rinse the tiles after showering
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
Use a gentle cleaner on the grout with a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it because they wear grout away.
Stains that will not clean are a sign the grout is breaking down. Regrouting at this stage is straightforward, before the joints open up.

Why it’s worth doing now in Newbridge
Grout pens and paint-on colourants only cover the surface. They don’t fill cracks or stop water and stains often come back through. Raking out and regrouting replaces the grout itself. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water through a failed joint keeps working away until it’s fixed.
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.

How it works
All our tools and materials come with us in the van. Once we have agreed what’s being done, we protect the area and start. It normally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Outdoor work around Newbridge depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Work indoors is not affected.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
Preparing for the visit
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
