How we handle regrouting in Inverinate
A grout colour change can freshen a room without retiling. You might go from white to grey or back again. Just mention the colour you’d like when you drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk. We work on tiled floors, bathroom wall tiles and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are gaps where the shower grout has gone and corners filled with grout instead of silicone.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are normally the first signs.
You get a 12-month guarantee, the same in Inverinate as everywhere else we work.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Inverinate
A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance.
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
Different surfaces, different methods
Bathroom floors
Floor grout takes foot traffic as well as water. It wears and darkens over time.
Shower walls
Shower walls are the most common area we regrout. Gaps here let water get behind the tiling.
What happens on the day
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The work itself takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area from start to finish. For a place like Inverinate, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
- The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
- The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
- We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
How to prepare
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before

How to look after the new joints
Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:
- Keep the fan on after showering
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Check the corner silicone every few months
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
Have any tile that moves checked straight away. Movement will crack the new grout and lets water in.
Cracked grout does not stay cracked for long. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen, so regrouting early can save a retile.
Do you need regrouting in Inverinate?
When tiles or the wall behind them move, the grout cracks. Loose tiles, bouncy floors and timber walls can all do it, so we check the tiles before work begins.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- A grout colour that no longer suits the room
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
Homes close to Kintail Parish Church include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Your questions about regrouting in Inverinate
Is Inverinate in your area for regrouting?
Yes, Inverinate is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
Do you work in hotels near Inverinate?
Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.
Should I try DIY first?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
Do the sealants smell?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure. Ventilation helps.
How much does regrouting cost in Inverinate?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. You will get a clear quote before work begins.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint.
Where do you work from?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. We cover Inverinate and the rest of Highland, along with the rest of our area.
What affects the cost of regrouting
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- How much there is to do
- How easy the joints are to reach
- When we can work, for business premises
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
Asking for a quote
You do not need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:
- The rough size of the job
- The type of property
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- If someone has resealed it before
Every job is quoted individually, so the first step is telling us about yours. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details.
Inverinate homes and their sealant
Inverinate is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.
Around Inverinate, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.
