Regrouting in Hoe Gate, done properly
Across Hoe Gate, we regrout tiled showers, bathrooms and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, and we finish by resealing the edges. We work on kitchen splashbacks, bathroom floors and bathroom wall tiles, and common reasons people get in touch are a grout colour that no longer suits the room and discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles.
Being in a small place like Hoe Gate makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.
You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Hoe Gate questions
Do you cover Hoe Gate for regrouting?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Hoe Gate is part of that. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing.
Will you come out to Hoe Gate?
Yes, Hoe Gate is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Will it make a mess?
No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we tidy up before we go.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We’re fully insured for every job we do.
Is there any odour?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure, which fades as it sets. Ventilation helps.
Do you guarantee regrouting?
Our one-year guarantee covers every job.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes, regularly. We can quote for several properties at once.
Looking after it afterwards
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
- Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Wipe water off the walls when you’re done
We will tell you when the area can be used again. Stick to that time, and go gently on the grout at first.
Grout that stays dark after cleaning is starting to fail. At this point it’s a simple regrout, before the joints open up.

How the job changes by surface
Kitchen splashbacks
Grout behind the hob and sink works hard. We regroute and reseal the worktop joint.
Corners and edges
We reseal edges at the same time as regrouting, so the whole area is finished together.
What happens if it’s left?
New grout smeared over the old does not bond well. It sits thinly on top and soon flakes away. Raking out to a consistent depth gives the new grout something to hold. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Hoe Gate, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

What happens on the day
We keep the work tidy and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can carry on as normal. Expect the work to take anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. In a small place like Hoe Gate, access is usually the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Before we arrive
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

When something else is needed
We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- A structure that flexes behind the tiles
If you are not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Bathroom floors
- Tiled floors
- Shower walls
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Wet rooms
Should I try it myself first?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Signs you need regrouting in Hoe Gate
Grout is porous, so water, soap and grime soak into it. Given time, it discolours and begins to break down, especially in a shower that’s used every day.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Grout in corners that has cracked
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
Rented homes near Portchester station change hands often, and stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.
What your quote should include
- What happens if the job turns out different
- Who does the work, and how experienced they are
- When the joint can take water or movement
- Whether they seal over old material or remove it
Regrouting in Hoe Gate: local notes
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Newtown Soberton Infant School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Homes close to Church of the Holy Trinity include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
