Regrouting in Woodend
Across Woodend, we regrout tiled showers, bathrooms and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, and we finish by resealing the edges. We work on shower walls, bathroom floors and kitchen splashbacks, and the jobs we see most are grout washed out of a shower and floor grout that won’t come clean.
In a village or hamlet like Woodend, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Regrouting in Woodend: local notes
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
If you live in an older home near Church of the Holy Trinity, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. For landlords with property near Botley station, stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.
Woodend is about 5 miles north of Fareham, in Hampshire. We provide regrouting to homes and businesses in Woodend. Across Hampshire, we cover 683 places, Woodend among them. There’s also a page for Portsmouth, about 8 miles away.

When to call us in Woodend
Grout used in corners or along the bath cracks as the bath or tray moves. Those joints should be silicone, and when they aren’t, water gets in.
Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
Managing a site like Swanmore College of Technology? Then its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
What your quote should include
- What product goes in the joint
- What the cure time is
- What preparation is included
- What guarantee comes with the work
Can I do it myself?
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.
What affects the quote in Woodend
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- Which sealant suits the joint
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.
What to tell us for a quote
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:
- Where the property is
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
Asking for a quote is easy: let us know what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help us understand the job.
Woodend questions
Do you work for landlords with property near Botley station?
Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before any work starts.
Is Woodend in your area for regrouting?
Yes, Woodend is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job.
Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?
If tiles are loose, something behind them has generally failed. Regrouting alone isn’t the answer and we’ll say so before going ahead.
What sealant do you use?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.
Can you seal over the old sealant?
No. We remove every bit of old sealant first, so the new sealant bonds properly.
How long does regrouting take?
Most jobs take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, and we have been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
Should I try DIY first?
That depends on the joint. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.
The process
Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we don’t rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. For a village or hamlet like Woodend, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints

Advice
What happens if it’s left?
Regrouting won’t help where tiles have come away. We’ll tell you before any work starts, so you can decide what to do. On sound tiles, regrouting avoids the upheaval of a retile. Around Woodend, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
The cost depends on the amount of work, how much old material has to come out and access to the work. You will have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

Surface by surface
Kitchen splashbacks
A splashback can be regrouted without touching the worktop. The joint along the worktop is resealed with silicone.
Wet rooms
Regrouting a wet room helps keep water on the surface of the tiles. It doesn’t repair failed tanking underneath.
Landlord and commercial work in Woodend
We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
