Need regrouting in Gateside?

Regrouting in Gateside, done properly

Most regrouting jobs include resealing too. Grout is for the joints between tiles, but internal corners and edges flex, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Renewing both together means nothing is left half-done. We work on kitchen splashbacks, wet rooms and tiled floors, and common reasons people get in touch are cracked grout along the bath or tray and grout stained black or orange that won’t clean.

Being further from a city does not change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Quotes for regrouting in Gateside

The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:

  • The size of the job
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • How many areas need sealing
  • Access and height

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

Helping us quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:

  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs

Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we will explain how we’d tackle it. When it suits you, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

FAQs for Gateside

Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Gateside?

All our work, in Gateside and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Is Gateside in your area for regrouting?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Gateside is part of that. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.

Should corners be grouted or sealed?

Flexible sealant. Grout belongs between the tiles, while corners and edges need a joint that can move.

What do you need from me for a quote?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

Is it OK to seal over old sealant?

No, it will not last. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. The old sealant has to come out completely.

Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?

Yes, plenty of people choose to. Darker grout can hide marks, while lighter grout brightens a room.

What do you put in the joint?

Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice.

Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?

In most cases, yes. The corners and edges should be silicone, and it makes sense to renew both together.

Do you need regrouting in Gateside?

Hard water and soap leave a film on grout and stick to it. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.

People usually contact us when they notice one of these:

  • A grout colour that no longer suits the room
  • Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
  • Good tiles let down by tired grout
  • Gaps where the shower grout has gone

Around Gateside, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.

10 questions to ask before you book

For landlords and businesses

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.

When something else is needed

New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t solve:

  • Cracked or broken tiles
  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind

If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Shower walls
  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Tiled floors
  • Bathroom floors

Leave it or put it right?

Grouting over old grout rarely lasts. It sits thinly on top and soon flakes away. Raking out to a consistent depth gives the new grout something to hold. Around Gateside, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.

There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Aftercare tips

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:

  • Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
  • Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
  • Wipe water off the walls when you are done

Before we leave, you will know when the shower can be used. Please follow it, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.

Fixing grout early is a small job. Left, the same problem can let water through so it’s worth dealing with as soon as you spot it.

The process

There’s no need to move everything out before we come, only the area right around the joints. We protect the rest, and the work takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area in most cases. Around Gateside, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.

  1. We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
  2. Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
  4. We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
  5. Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.

Preparing for the visit

  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

Bathrooms and kitchens in Gateside

Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.

For an older house near a landmark such as Edenshead Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
