Regrouting near Frensham

Regrouting in Frensham, done properly

A bathroom with good tiles can still look worn if the grout has gone. Regrouting replaces the grout and keeps the tiles you have, so nothing is ripped out. We are often asked to deal with gaps where the shower grout has gone and kitchen splashback grout stained by grease, across bathroom floors, shower walls and kitchen splashbacks.

Being in a small place like Frensham makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee.

Mr Mastic applicator sealing the vertical joint between a glass shower screen and tiled wall

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

How we quote for regrouting

Jobs vary more than people expect. The main factors:

  • The type of sealant required
  • Access and height
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Any mould that needs treating

What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we ask a few questions first.

What we need to know

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:

  • The rough size of the job
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel

For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or send an email if you’d rather. Describe what needs sealing and we’ll explain what’s involved before giving you a price.

Questions from Frensham

Do you cover smaller places like Frensham?

Yes. Frensham is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Can you do regrouting in Frensham?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Frensham is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.

Will it make a mess?

Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

In most cases, yes. Corners and edges need flexible silicone and doing both at once leaves everything sound.

Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?

Yes. We will look at the rest of the room too and let you know if more needs doing.

How long does the job take?

It depends on the size of the job, but as a guide it takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. We will give you a better idea when we quote.

Do the sealants smell?

Some sealants have a smell while they cure, but it fades. Ventilation helps.

Where do you work from?

We work from Crawley. We cover Frensham and the rest of Surrey, along with the rest of our area.

Frensham homes and their sealant

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Mary's CofE Aided Infant School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. Rented homes near Farnham station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

Frensham is about 3 miles south of Farnham, in Surrey. Whether you’re in the middle of Frensham or further out, we cover regrouting for every kind of property, from flats and houses to offices and hotels. Across Surrey, we cover 395 places, and Frensham is one of them. We also work in Reading, about 21 miles from Frensham.

We work across GU10 for regrouting. We cover properties on The Street and Peakfield. Nearby, we also carry out regrouting in Millbridge (1 mile north), Shortfield Common (1 mile north), Crosswater (1 mile south-east), Tilford Reeds (2 miles north-east) and Tilford Common (2 miles east). Larger places within reach include Guildford (11 miles north-east), Woking (14 miles north-east), Camberley (12 miles north), Farnham (3 miles north), Frimley (11 miles north) and Haslemere (6 miles south-east).

Local landmarks in Frensham

How to look after the new joints

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Use gentle cleaners on grout
  • Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
  • Have loose tiles looked at early
  • Skip wire brushes and scourers

Clean the grout with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft brush. Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers because they wear grout away.

Leaving failed grout can mean tiles come loose. By then, new grout alone is not enough, so it’s worth acting early.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Frensham

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements and we will quote.

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

How the visit works

At the end, we look at the finished work together. The work normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, depending on how much there is to do. In a small place like Frensham, access is normally the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Clear items away from the joints we are working on

Advice

Leave it or put it right?

Regrouting keeps the tiles you already have. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and often a few days without a shower. When the tiles are fine, it’s the sensible first step. Older cottages and farmhouses around Frensham can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you are unsure, call 0345 464 0079 or email us for an honest opinion and a quote.

Do you need regrouting in Frensham?

Soap scum and limescale build up on grout that’s hard to shift. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.

Look out for these signs:

  • Crumbling grout between the tiles
  • Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
  • Grout in corners that has cracked
  • Floor grout that has worn and darkened

Homes close to Church of St Mary the Virgin include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.
