Regrouting in Rushmoor, done properly

We check the tiles before any grout comes out. Loose or hollow tiles are pointed out first, since new grout cannot fix a problem underneath. With sound tiles, regrouting is a tidy, lasting improvement. If you have grout that makes sound tiles look old and corners filled with grout instead of silicone, we can help, on bathroom wall tiles, bathroom floors and tiled floors alike.

Somewhere as small as Rushmoor, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after we have gone.

Should I try it myself first?

Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

The process

Once we’re on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. Most jobs then take anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Somewhere as small as Rushmoor, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
  2. We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
  3. Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
  4. New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
  5. The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Advice

How we quote for regrouting

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:

  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • The size of the job
  • How many areas need sealing

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Helping us quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:

  • Where the property is
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • Photos by email, if that is easy

We quote each job on its own, so the first step is telling us about yours. Simply call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and describe the job and send pictures if you have them.

Do you need regrouting in Rushmoor?

Grout is porous, so water, soap and grime soak into it. Over time it stains, softens and starts to crumble and showers that get daily use suffer most.

Look out for these signs:

  • Floor grout that won’t come clean
  • A grout colour that no longer suits the room
  • Grout washed out of a shower
  • Cracked grout along the bath or tray

Rented homes near Farnham station change hands often, and clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Before booking anyone

  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
  • Whether you can choose the colour
  • Are they insured?
  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it

Choosing a sealant specialist

Different surfaces, different methods

Kitchen splashbacks

The grout by the hob and sink takes most of the mess. We renew the grout and the worktop sealant.

Corners and edges

Where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop, the joint is sealed. Grout there would crack.

Rushmoor questions

Can you do regrouting in Rushmoor?

Yes, Rushmoor is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Do you work for landlords with property near Farnham station?

Yes, we work for landlords and agents. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the property, and we’ll give you a clear price.

What do you put in the joint?

Each joint gets the product that suits it. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we will explain our choice.

Can you seal over the old sealant?

No. Fresh sealant does not stick to old sealant, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. It all has to come out first.

Will there be a smell?

Some sealants have a smell while they cure. Ventilation helps.

What guarantee comes with the work?

Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, and we are fully insured.

Should I try DIY first?

Sometimes. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before applying anything new.

Leave it or put it right?

If tiles are loose, regrouting alone isn’t the answer. We point that out first, so you can decide what to do. Where the tiles are sound, regrouting is far less disruptive than retiling. In a small place like Rushmoor, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

Combining jobs into one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. We’ll give you a clear price for the lot.

Why book with us

  • Tidy, careful work
  • Experience in homes, commercial sites and hotels
  • A 12-month guarantee on all work
  • Approved under the ARBOMaster scheme

Keeping the joints in good condition

How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
  • Use gentle cleaners on grout
  • Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
  • Skip wire brushes and scourers

Before we leave, you will know when the shower can be used. Please follow it, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.

Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. By then, new grout alone is not enough so early action pays.
