Need regrouting in Eel Pie Island?

Regrouting in Eel Pie Island, done properly

We work across Eel Pie Island, regrouting bathrooms, showers and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, and we finish by resealing the edges. We work on bathroom floors, shower walls and tiled floors, and the jobs we see most are old grout in a dated colour and grout that makes sound tiles look old.

Across London, a large share of homes are flats, conversions or mansion blocks, so a bathroom is often directly above a neighbour’s ceiling. In Eel Pie Island, that’s a good reason to put tired sealant and grout right early.

A 12-month guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

When it isn’t the sealant

To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:

  • A structure that flexes behind the tiles
  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Cracked or broken tiles

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

What happens if it’s left?

Colouring the surface of old grout is a quick cosmetic fix. They do not fill cracks or stop water, and stains can show through again. A proper regrout puts new grout in the joint. In older London homes, water behind a failed joint soaks into brick and timber without much sign, and once it shows in Eel Pie Island, the repair is bigger than a sealant job.

We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will talk you through it.

The process

Once we are on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. Most jobs then take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Many London jobs are in flats, so we come ready for stairs, narrow hallways and shared entrances. If the building has a concierge, managing agent or access rules, tell us when you book.

  1. We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
  2. We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
  3. The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
  4. Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
  5. We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.

Before we arrive

  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area

Advice

How we quote for regrouting

We don’t publish a price list. What we look at:

  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you an honest view and a quote.

Helping us quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:

  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • A few photos by email, if you can

To get a quote, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts.

Regrouting around Eel Pie Island

London has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and taps, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. London has a lot of flats and conversions, and a failed shower or bath seal in one can show up on the ceiling below, so tired sealant is best dealt with early.

In the older streets around St Mary's Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Eel Pie Island is in London, so parking needs planning: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when you book.
