Regrouting for homes and businesses in Dunblane
We take the old grout out to a consistent depth, without damaging the edges of the tiles. The joints are then vacuumed, regrouted and cleaned off, with silicone renewed in the corners. If you have grout washed out of a shower and grout that’s cracking and breaking up, we can help, on tiled floors, shower walls and kitchen splashbacks alike.
For a place like Dunblane, the job is the same as anywhere: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.
A 12-month guarantee comes as standard.

What regrouting looks like in Dunblane
There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Dunblane. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out.
Rented homes near Dunblane station change hands often, and clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

The process
Once we are on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Outdoor work around Dunblane depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors isn’t affected.
- First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
- Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
- The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
- Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
Before we arrive
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

What affects the quote in Dunblane
We do not publish a price list, because jobs vary so much. The quote depends on:
- Whether the work is at height
- Any mould that needs treating
- The number of rooms or windows
- The old material and how stubborn it is
Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. We’ll send you a clear quote for the lot.
Asking for a quote

- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- Roughly how big the job is
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- The address or postcode of the job

Signs you need regrouting in Dunblane
Soap scum and limescale build up on grout that’s hard to shift. In time the grout under it darkens and breaks down, which is when replacing it makes sense.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Good tiles let down by tired grout
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
- Grout that’s cracking and breaking up
In and around Dunblane, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.
What to look for in a quote
- How hidden problems are handled
- What preparation is included
- Are they insured?
- How much experience the applicator has
When it isn’t the sealant
We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:
- Cracked or broken tiles
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think before booking.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly.
Looking after it afterwards
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. We recommend:
- Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
- Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
- Do not ignore a tile that feels loose
If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. Movement will crack the new grout and lets water in.
Leaving failed grout can mean tiles come loose. Once that happens, regrouting won’t fix it, so it’s worth acting early.
