Regrouting in Causewayhead
Our applicators work in Causewayhead on raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- Grout washed out of a shower
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Old grout in a dated colour
Regrouting for homes and businesses in Causewayhead
Our applicators rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care not to chip the tile edges. After vacuuming, new grout goes in and the tiles are wiped clean, with silicone renewed in the corners. We work on tiled floors, wet rooms and shower walls, and common reasons people get in touch are grout washed out of a shower and grout in corners that has cracked.
A bathroom in a place like Causewayhead gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.
Your job is guaranteed for a year, as with all our work.

What regrouting looks like in Causewayhead
There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Causewayhead. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.
If you let a flat or house near Stirling station, stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right. Schools such as Wallace High School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Your questions about regrouting in Causewayhead
I let a flat near Stirling station. Can you help?
Yes. We work for letting agents and landlords as well as householders. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details for a clear quote.
Will you come out to Causewayhead?
Yes. Causewayhead is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. We have worked for hotels, offices and other businesses and we’re fully insured.
Can I do it myself?
Sometimes. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.
Is it OK to seal over old sealant?
No. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old sealant, and it traps any mould or water underneath. We remove it all first.
Do I need to be at home?
It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes, always, and completely. New silicone does not stick to old silicone, so the joint is cleaned back first.
Will you leave a mess?
No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we tidy up before we go.
When it is not the sealant
New sealant cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant will not put right:
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before booking.
What we seal
- Wet rooms
- Tiled floors
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Bathroom floors
- Shower walls
Why act early in Causewayhead
Grout pens and paint-on colourants only cover the surface. They don’t fill cracks or stop water and stains often come back through. A proper regrout puts new grout in the joint. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water through a failed joint keeps working away until it’s fixed.
What it costs depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before we start, so you know where you stand.

What we do, step by step
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you. The visit itself normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, depending on how much there is to do. Somewhere like Causewayhead may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Tell us about any water getting in
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
How to get a quote
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is.

How to look after the new joints
Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use keeps water off the grout. Ventilate the room well to help it dry out.
Cracked grout does not stay cracked for long. Water gets behind the tiles, and they can begin to come away and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.
What affects the cost of regrouting
You’ll get a clear quote before work begins. It takes into account:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- Whether the work is at height
- How many areas need sealing
- The size of the job
Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller. If you are unsure, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.
What we need to know
There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:
- Whether it has been sealed before
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- A few pictures by email, if you can
- Where the job is, and your postcode
Every job is quoted individually, so the first step is telling us about yours. Simply email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and describe the job and send pictures if you have them.
Should I try it myself first?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
