Crocketford Regrouting
Tiled areas in Crocketford need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, with a one-year guarantee.
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
Regrouting in Crocketford
Our applicators rake out the old grout to an even depth, without damaging the edges of the tiles. After vacuuming, new grout goes in and the tiles are wiped clean, and the corners get fresh silicone. If you’re dealing with shower grout that has worn away and splashback grout that has darkened, we can help, on bathroom wall tiles, wet rooms and shower walls alike.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.
Big or small, you get the same 12-month guarantee.

DIY versus a professional finish
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.
When something else is needed
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
- Tiles that are chipped or split
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before you book.
Surfaces we seal
- Shower walls
- Tiled floors
- Wet rooms
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Bathroom floors
Looking after it afterwards
A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Don’t use strong acidic cleaners on grout
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
Clean the grout with a mild bathroom cleaner with a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it because they wear grout away.
If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Each shower drives water into the open joints, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.
When to call us in Crocketford
Some grout fails because it was mixed or laid badly. If it was mixed too wet or not pressed in firmly can wash out within a few years.
People usually contact us after spotting something like this:
- Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
- Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
Whether the job is in Crocketford itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

How the visit works
You do not need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room for a typical job. Outside jobs in Crocketford need a dry day, because sealant won’t bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Mention any parking rules near the property

Bathrooms and kitchens in Crocketford
Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.

Why act early in Crocketford
Colouring the surface of old grout is a quick cosmetic fix. They don’t fill cracks or stop water and stains often come back through. A proper regrout puts new grout in the joint. In an older home around Crocketford, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we will explain the quote if you ask.

What affects the quote in Crocketford
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:
- The number of rooms or windows
- Access and height
- Which sealant suits the joint
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
The cost depends on the amount of work, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. You will have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.
Asking for a quote
To make quoting easier, let us know:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
We quote each job on its own, so start by telling us what you need. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details, and pictures are welcome.
Crocketford: your questions answered
Is regrouting in Crocketford guaranteed?
All our work, in Crocketford and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Can you do regrouting in Crocketford?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Crocketford is part of that. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.
What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?
Internal corners and edges are sealed with flexible silicone. Grout in a moving joint soon cracks.
Is there any odour?
That depends on the sealant. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little, and any smell fades as they cure.
What sealant do you use?
We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice, and we will explain our choice.
Will it make a mess?
Tidy work is part of the job. Nearby surfaces are protected.
How do I get a quote for regrouting in Crocketford?
We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. You’ll get a clear quote before work begins.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We are fully insured, and we have been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
