Your questions about new build mastic in Crocketford

Do you cover Crocketford for new build mastic?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Crocketford is part of that. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.

Will you come out to Crocketford?

Yes. Crocketford is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Can I send you my snagging list?

Yes. Send it with photos and we’ll quote for the sealant items. If something isn’t sealant, we’ll say so.

Can new sealant go on top of the old bead?

No. Sealing over old sealant looks fine for a few weeks, then lifts. We remove every bit of the old bead before resealing.

Are you insured?

Yes, we are fully insured for every job we do.

How long does the job take?

A typical job takes anything from a few hours to several days, depending on the number of plots, including preparation and clearing up. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.

Can you match the sealant colour to my new kitchen or bathroom?

That depends on what the joint meets: white or clear in most bathrooms, and a colour to suit worktops, frames and floors elsewhere. We’ll agree it with you first.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

We’re a Crawley-based firm. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

New build mastic in Crocketford, done properly

We never seal over a failed new-build bead. Fresh silicone cannot bond to the old layer, so the joint is cut out, cleaned, dried and resealed. If you’re dealing with cracked caulk along new skirting and cracks appearing as a new home settles, we can help, whatever the surface.

Around smaller Scottish places like Crocketford, new homes tend to be single plots or small developments. Each needs its sealant and floor joints finished as carefully as on a big site.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

Can I do it myself?

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Crocketford, several properties can go on one quote. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after new joints is easy:

  • Keep water off fresh sealant until it has cured
  • Report sealant problems to your builder during the snagging period
  • Wipe joints with warm soapy water
  • Look at the sealant regularly in the first couple of years

Watch the joints as the house settles. Hairline gaps can open as timber and plaster dry, and they’re simple to reseal once movement has slowed.

Mould takes hold quickly in sealant that has gaps or lifted edges. Resealing before mould gets in keeps the job straightforward.

How it works

When we get to you, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes a few hours for most snagging lists, longer for a run of plots. In smaller Scottish places, parking is generally less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. First, the list of joints is agreed from your snagging sheet or plot schedule.
  2. The failed sealant is removed completely down to clean surfaces.
  3. We clean out the dust and grit left from the build.
  4. We prime where needed and apply a sealant suited to each joint.
  5. We tool every joint neatly and tell you when each area can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

Plot handovers

Send us the schedule and any sealant specification. Sealant work across the plot is covered as agreed.

Skirting and floors

New homes often develop a gap between skirting and floor. A flexible sealant closes it without cracking like caulk.

Why act early in Crocketford

Resealing everything on a snagging list in one visit is normally simpler than chasing joints one at a time. You get one visit and one clear quote. In an older home around Crocketford, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster.

Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.

What you get with us

  • Neat joints and a tidy finish
  • Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over
  • Arbo and Everbuild products
  • Colour picked to suit the job

What we are called out for in Crocketford

The first winter with the heating on dries a new home quickly. Gaps open along skirting, frames and worktops.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Cracks appearing as a new home settles
  • Sealant work across a run of new homes
  • New-build shower sealant that has already split
  • Frame joints opening as the plaster dries

Around Crocketford, as everywhere, new build mastic is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Comparing quotes

  • How the colour is chosen
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • How long to leave it before use
  • How much experience the applicator has
