Regrouting in Charlestown, Highland
Professional regrouting in and around Charlestown, with old sealant always removed completely and a 12-month guarantee.
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Floor grout that will not come clean
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
Regrouting in Charlestown
We work across Charlestown, regrouting bathrooms, showers and kitchens. The old grout is raked out, the joints cleaned and new grout laid, finished with new silicone at the edges. We work on bathroom wall tiles, wet rooms and bathroom floors, and people most often call us about discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles and shower grout that has worn away.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Charlestown work just as hard as those in the cities. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Questions from Charlestown
Will you come out to Charlestown?
Yes, Charlestown is covered. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Is Charlestown in your area for regrouting?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Charlestown is part of that. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status, and we are fully insured.
How do I get a quote for regrouting in Charlestown?
Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.
What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?
Corners get silicone, not grout. They flex, and grout there cracks.
How long will you be here?
Most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, including preparation and clearing up. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No, because it fails. The old sealant always comes out first, so the new sealant bonds properly.
Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?
Yes, regrouting is the time to do it. Mention the colour you have in mind when you drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Surface by surface
Shower walls
Shower walls get wet every day, so grout there works hardest. It’s often the first place grout washes out.
Kitchen splashbacks
We can regroute a splashback with the kitchen left in place. The worktop edge is finished with silicone.
What sealant work cannot fix
It helps to know what we can’t do:
- Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
- Damaged tiles that need replacing
If in doubt, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.
What we seal
- Tiled floors
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Bathroom floors
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Wet rooms
- Shower walls
Looking after it afterwards
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
- Rinse the tiles after showering
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
Before we leave, you’ll know when the shower can be used. Stick to that time, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.
Small problems with grout are quick to put right. Left for a few years, they can become a leak so it’s worth dealing with as soon as you spot it.
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee.
For anyone letting property in or around Charlestown, jobs at different addresses can be quoted together. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs.
Can I do it myself?
Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Regrouting in Charlestown: local notes
Charlestown is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
If you look after a building such as Inverness High School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
Charlestown is about 3 miles north-west of Inverness, in Highland. Anywhere in IV1, we cover regrouting for homes and businesses. We cover 253 towns and villages across Highland.

How the visit works
You don’t need to clear the whole room or building before we come, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area for a typical job. Outside jobs in Charlestown need a dry day, because sealant won’t bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.
- We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- Dust is cleared from every joint.
- The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking rules near the property
- Clear the area around the work
- Tell us about any water getting in

Signs you need regrouting in Charlestown
When tiles or the wall behind them move, the grout cracks. Loose tiles, bouncy floors and timber walls can all do it, so we check the tiles before any work starts.
The most common problems we see are:
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
For landlords with property near Inverness station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.
