Chale Regrouting
Professional regrouting in and around Chale, with old sealant always removed completely.
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
What affects the cost of regrouting
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- How many areas need sealing
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- The size of the job
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why we ask a few questions first and agree the price before starting.
What to tell us for a quote
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- The problem you’ve noticed
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- The address or postcode of the job
- Photos by email, if that is easy
We quote each job on its own, so the first step is telling us about yours. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details, and photos are welcome.
How we handle regrouting in Chale
When grout stays dark however much you clean it, the discolouration has generally soaked into the grout. Replacing it is the lasting answer and you can pick a different colour while you are at it. If you have dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor and gaps where the shower grout has gone, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
Around Chale, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. The work is the same as anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee in Chale and across the Isle of Wight.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Chale
Chale is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
In and around Chale, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Questions from Chale
Do you cover smaller places like Chale?
Yes. Chale is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Is Chale in your area for regrouting?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Chale is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Is the work guaranteed?
All our work carries a 12-month guarantee, and we’re fully insured.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator, the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, we are fully insured for every job we do.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
Regrouting will not fix loose tiles. We check the tiles first and tell you if any are loose or hollow, so you can decide what to do.
Can you regrout just the shower?
Yes, that’s common. Shower grout tends to go before the rest, so many people regrout just that part.
Do you work for hotels and businesses?
Yes, regularly. We can plan bigger jobs in stages.
How the job changes by surface
Wet rooms
Regrouting a wet room helps keep water on the surface of the tiles. It can’t fix waterproofing below the tiles.
Bathroom wall tiles
Walls outside the shower get less water but still stain and crack. Regrouting brings them back in line.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.
Leave it or put it right?
Grout pens and paint-on colourants only cover the surface. They will not fill gaps or keep water out, and stains can show through again. Raking out and regrouting replaces the grout itself. Around Chale, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
What it costs depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. We give a clear quote before we start.

What we can’t put right
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- A structure that flexes behind the tiles
Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

How it works
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The work itself takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere as small as Chale, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
- The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
- Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
- Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
Ask for a quote
Asking for a quote is easy: tell us what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we’ll come back to you with a quote.

Common problems we fix in Chale
When tiles or the wall behind them move, the grout cracks. That can be a loose tile, a flexing floor or a stud wall, which is why we check the tiles first.
Common reasons people contact us are:
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
- Good tiles let down by tired grout
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
- Grout in corners that has cracked
Homes close to St Andrew's Church include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
What to look for in a quote
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
- What preparation is included
- How the colour is chosen
- What the quote includes, VAT included or not
