What affects the quote in Calshot

There’s no set price list, because jobs vary so much. What we look at:

  • Whether the work is at height
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The type of sealant required

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Helping us quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • The type of property
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • The rough size of the job
  • Whether it has been sealed before

Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Simply phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and describe the job, and pictures are welcome.

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Calshot

Stained, crumbling or cracked grout can make a sound bathroom look tired. With regrouting, the tiles stay and only the grout is renewed, so there’s no stripping out and no new tiles to choose. We are often asked to deal with grout that’s cracking and breaking up and shower grout that has worn away, across bathroom floors, shower walls and tiled floors.

Around Calshot, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right with it, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Can I do it myself?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

Different surfaces, different methods

Wet rooms

Wet rooms have water across the floor, so good grout is important. We check for loose tiles before starting.

Corners and edges

Corners flex as the building moves, so they get silicone, not grout.

What happens on the day

We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. Typically it takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. In a small place like Calshot, access is generally the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Before we arrive

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

Do you need regrouting in Calshot?

Soap scum and limescale build up on grout that is hard to shift. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.

Common reasons people contact us include:

  • Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
  • Grout washed out of a shower
  • Grout that’s cracking and breaking up
  • Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor

Rented homes near Hamble station change hands often, and clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

What to look for in a quote

  • The length of the guarantee
  • Whether VAT is included
  • What insurance they hold
  • Who turns up on the day

Our hiring checklist

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.

What regrouting looks like in Calshot

Calshot is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you live in an older home near St George, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Calshot: your questions answered

Do you work for landlords with property near Hamble station?

Yes, we work for landlords and agents. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the property, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Do you cover Calshot for regrouting?

Yes, Calshot is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear price.

Which products do you use?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We’ll tell you what we are using and why.

When can I use the shower again?

The wait depends on the materials and how warm the room is. We will give you a time to follow when the job is done.

Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?

Yes. It’s the ideal time to change it. Mention the colour you have in mind when you call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Do the sealants smell?

Some sealants have a smell while they cure, which fades as it sets. Ventilation helps.

Should corners be grouted or sealed?

Internal corners and edges are sealed with flexible silicone. Grout in a moving joint soon cracks.

Do I have to be there?

We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:

  • Rinse the tiles after showering
  • Wipe water off the walls when you are done
  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
  • Open a window or run the fan to clear steam

Use a gentle cleaner on the grout and a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it, as they can break grout down.

Leaving failed grout can mean tiles come loose. Once that happens, regrouting will not fix it, so it’s worth acting early.
