Regrouting in Ashlett
We cover Ashlett for raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and a one-year guarantee.
- Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
- Old grout in a dated colour
Different surfaces, different methods
Shower walls
The grout in a shower takes the brunt of the water. We rake it out and regrout and renew the silicone at the edges.
Bathroom wall tiles
Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on the area. It’s a good time to change the grout colour.
About our regrouting in Ashlett
A grout colour change can freshen a room without retiling. Light grout can go darker to hide marks, or the other way round. Just mention the colour you’d like when you phone 0345 464 0079 or email us. We work on bathroom wall tiles, tiled floors and kitchen splashbacks, and the jobs we see most are good tiles let down by tired grout and grout in a colour the owner wants to change.
Being in a small place like Ashlett makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.
Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Ashlett and across Hampshire.

Common questions in Ashlett
Will you come out to Ashlett?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Do you take on hotel work around Ashlett?
Yes, we work for hotels as well as homes and businesses. Rooms can be done a few at a time, so the building stays open.
Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?
Yes, regrouting is the time to do it. Tell us the colour you’d like when you ask for a quote.
How long should I wait before showering?
You will get a clear time from us before we go. Both the grout and the silicone need time to cure before they get wet.
Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?
Yes, that is common. The shower generally fails first, so many people regrout just that part.
Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?
Most of the time, yes. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so both are renewed and include it in your quote.
Are you insured?
Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured.
Which products do you use?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.
How we quote for regrouting
Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:
- Which sealant suits the joint
- When we can work, for business premises
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- The size of the job
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.
Asking for a quote
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- The address or postcode of the job
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job. When it suits you, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Ashlett homes and their sealant
Ashlett is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Ashlett has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room.
For landlords with property near Hamble station, stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of All Saints, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. If you look after a building such as Fawley Infant School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly.
What we do, step by step
There’s no need to move everything out before we come, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room in most cases. Somewhere like Ashlett needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Getting ready for the visit
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before

Advice
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
We also work for property managers and facilities teams in Ashlett and across Hampshire. We can quote a run of properties together, and we are fully insured for the work.
Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. We can quote for more than one property at once.
What happens if it’s left?
Colouring the surface of old grout is a quick cosmetic fix. They don’t fill cracks or stop water and stains often come back through. A proper regrout puts new grout in the joint. Older cottages and farmhouses around Ashlett can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote.

How to look after the new joints
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
- Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
- Skip wire brushes and scourers
- Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it can harden properly. After that, rinse the tiles after showering and let the room air.
If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Each shower drives water into the open joints and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.
