Our bathroom resealing service in FK16

Showers work their sealant harder than baths. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. We work on shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & upstands and sinks & splashbacks, and common reasons people get in touch are leaks into the floor or ceiling below and failed sealant on the screen profile.

When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Getting a quote

For a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. We will send you a clear quote before any work starts.

What’s near Doune

We work in homes and buildings around Highland Hotel and St Madoc's Episcopal Church, among other places. Doune’s nearest station is Dunblane station, roughly 3.4 miles east of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Doune Motor Museum (2.3 miles north-west) and Doune Castle (less than half a mile south-east). Not far away are Loch Mahaick and Hill of Row.

Where we work in FK16

Homes across FK16 range from older properties to new builds, and in places like Doune, Deanston and Menteith there’s plenty of rented property too. Bathroom resealing keeps bathrooms and kitchens watertight and looking cared for.

Our work covers the whole of Scotland, FK16 included. Longer journeys are planned in advance, and outdoor work around the weather.

Doune: If you live in an older home near St Madoc's Episcopal Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Letting a property close to Dunblane station? Then fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:

  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • The size of the job
  • How many areas need sealing

The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That’s why we ask about the job first and send you a clear quote before we start.

What we need to know

When you call or email, these details help:

  • How we’d reach the joints
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • The address or postcode of the job

Getting a quote is simple: let us know what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand, and we will come back to you with a quote.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use
  • Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner

Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint. The drier the joint stays, the longer it lasts.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, where it can make the board swell. A reseal in time can save the worktop.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

Landlords, agents and businesses in FK16

If you manage several properties in or around FK16, several properties can go on one quote. Send us the addresses and the work at each.

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. Several properties can be quoted together.

Surface by surface

Basins & vanity units

On a basin, neatness shows: so we keep the line tidy and even, finished in a colour that suits the basin.

Wet rooms

In a wet room, the joints between floor and walls take standing water. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, and our work is on the visible joints only.

FAQs for FK16

Is white the only colour available?

We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. Where the joint is on show, we match it to the surface.

When can I use the bath or shower again?

The surface skins over fairly quickly, but the bead needs longer to cure right through. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or follow the cure time we give you.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes, always, and completely. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.

Is there any odour?

Some sealants have a smell while they cure. Opening a window helps.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Good ventilation helps keep it away.
