New build mastic for Clivocast homes and businesses

What new build mastic looks like in Clivocast

Clivocast is close to the coast. New homes near the sea put their outside mastic to work from day one, so any gaps are best picked up early. Island jobs need planning around ferries and the weather, so the more notice, the better.

Whether the job is in Clivocast itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

How we handle new build mastic in Clivocast

For builders and developers, we work through plots to the schedule you give us. We seal bathrooms, kitchens, windows, doors and skirting so plots are ready to hand over with a sealant suited to each area. We work on bathrooms & en suites, show homes and windows & doors, and people most often call us about untidy sealant flagged on a snagging list and cracked caulk along new skirting.

Work in a place like Clivocast is planned ahead, journey included. Outdoor plot mastic needs dry weather, but indoor floor and skirting joints can be sealed whatever the forecast.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

The process

We bring everything the job needs with us, so you do not need to buy or prepare anything. After a quick look at the joints together, the area is protected and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours for most snagging lists, longer for a run of plots. For a place like Clivocast, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

  1. First we work through your snagging list or plot schedule with you.
  2. The old bead comes out in full, with no layer left behind.
  3. Surfaces are cleaned of building dust and primed where needed.
  4. A sealant chosen for each area goes in and is tooled smooth.
  5. Finally, each room is checked and you’re given the cure time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any tricky access
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Advice

How the job changes by surface

Show homes

Tired or marked sealant in a show home can be renewed. The old bead comes out and a clean new one goes in.

Kitchens

New-kitchen sealant is often applied in a rush. We take it out and reseal neatly, colour-matched where it shows.

Common problems we fix in Clivocast

Baths and trays settle under load once the home is lived in. If a bath wasn’t filled when it was sealed, the bead is stretched the first time it’s used and can tear.

Look out for these signs:

  • Gaps behind new kitchen upstands
  • Smeared, uneven beads picked up at snagging
  • Skirting joints opening in the first winter
  • Plot mastic for developers ahead of handover

In and around Clivocast, as anywhere, good new build mastic starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Before booking anyone

  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • Is the old sealant removed completely?
  • How much experience the applicator has
  • How the joint is cleaned and prepared

FAQs for Clivocast

Can you do new build mastic in Clivocast?

Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Clivocast is part of that. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.

Is there a guarantee on new build mastic in Clivocast?

Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Can new sealant go on top of the old bead?

No. Sealing over old sealant looks fine for a few weeks, then lifts. All the old sealant comes out before any work starts.

What do you put in the joint?

Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, chosen to suit the joint. We will tell you what we’re using and why.

Are you fully insured?

Yes, we’re fully insured for domestic and commercial work.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint before applying anything new.

Do I have to be there?

We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.

Is there any odour?

Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.

What we can’t put right

We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A tray or bath that is not properly supported, until it’s fixed
  • Settlement cracks that need a surveyor
  • Broken tiles or a split tray

If you are not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

How we quote for new build mastic

Your quote is based on your job. We look at:

  • The type of sealant required
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • Any working-time requirements on site

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

What to tell us for a quote

Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:

  • The type of property
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • A few pictures by email, if you can
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs

We do not publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Leave it or put it right?

Small cosmetic gaps can wait for the house to settle, but a leaking seal cannot. If you are unsure which you have, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with photos and we’ll give you a straight answer. In an older home around Clivocast, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster.

We do not show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.

Why Clivocast clients choose us

  • Quality sealants from Arbo and Everbuild
  • We agree the colour with you first
  • Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas
  • Full insurance on every job

Keeping the joints in good condition

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. We recommend:

  • Report sealant problems to your builder during the snagging period
  • Follow the cure time we give you
  • Avoid scourers and strong chemicals on sealant
  • Use the extractor fan every time you shower

Wipe the sealant with warm soapy water. Avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents as they wear the bead.

The sooner you deal with untidy or cracking sealant, the less there is to put right. Left alone, a small crack can become a leak over time.
