Gutter Sealing in Old Dailly
Gutter sealing across Old Dailly and nearby, with old sealant always removed completely.
- Damp patches inside below a leaking gutter
- Failed sealant on a garage door frame
- Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
Gutter sealing in Old Dailly, done properly
Our work covers gutter joints and end caps as well as fascias and soffits plus roofline trims and garage door frames. It’s joint work, not replacing the gutter. If you are dealing with internal damp traced to a gutter joint and garage door frames letting rain in, we can put it right.
Stone walls need a stone-friendly sealant, as acetoxy products can attack some stone. Newer houses need their movement joints and roofline trims kept sound.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Can I do it myself?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
What we do, step by step
The work is kept neat and contained to the area we are working on, so you can get on with your day. The job normally takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. Somewhere like Old Dailly may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
- Each joint is cleaned and any old sealant removed.
- The joints are dried.
- We apply exterior or gutter sealant and finish it neatly.
- We check our work before we leave.
Getting ready for the visit

Aftercare tips
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:
- Check that water runs out of the downpipes
- Get leaks sealed before the wet months
- Have sagging gutters refixed early
- Clear leaves and moss from the gutters
If a gutter starts to sag, get the brackets looked at. Movement will pull the joints open again.
Rain getting in round a garage door frame can damage what’s stored inside. Resealing the frame is a quick job.
What sealant work cannot fix
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- Water backing up from a blocked pipe
- Guttering that needs replacing
- Leaks from the roof rather than a joint

Outside joints around Old Dailly
Old Dailly is close to the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. That is hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and joints where harling meets other materials need a sealant that can grip and flex.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Girvan Academy, larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing. For an older house near a landmark such as Old Dailly Parish Church, an extension built onto an older house moves differently, and the joint between them takes the strain. Letting a property close to Girvan station? Then a gutter joint that drips onto the wall can turn into a damp complaint, so it’s worth checking.

For landlords and businesses
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. Several properties can go on one quote.
Letting agents and landlords in Old Dailly can book us as well as householders. Sealant work between tenants keeps a property looking cared for before the next move-in.
Why deal with it now?
A new garage door is not needed for a leaking frame. Resealing the frame joint is often enough. Around Old Dailly, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.
What you get with us
- You choose the colour before work begins
- Full insurance on every job
- Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet
- 20+ years of sealant experience

Soffit joints
Soffits sit under the eaves, where joints can open up. We seal them to close the gaps.
Gutter end caps
A leaking end cap sends water straight down the wall. It’s a quick reseal.
Questions from Old Dailly
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Girvan station?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can go on one quote. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details for a clear quote.
Does living near the coast affect gutter sealing in Old Dailly?
Near the coast, wind-driven rain and, nearer the shore, salt air make outside sealant work harder. Choosing the right sealant for the frame and wall, laid at the right depth, helps it last.
Do I need to be at home?
For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.
What does gutter sealing cost?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. You will get a clear quote before we start.
What do you put in the joint?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we will explain our choice.
Can you fit new guttering?
No. We seal leaking joints and trims. A gutter installer or roofer deals with replacement.
Do you seal gaps in fascias and soffits?
We do. We seal the joints, not replace the boards, and if a board is damaged, we will tell you.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
