How we handle gutter sealing in Notting Dale
Our work covers gutter joints and end caps as well as fascias and soffits plus roofline trims and garage door frames. It’s all about the joints rather than new guttering. We’re often asked to deal with end caps that drip every time it rains and gaps along fascia and soffit joints, across gutter end caps, uPVC fascias and roofline trims.
Newer London blocks are built with movement joints in brick and render, and with cladding joints sealed with mastic. Period houses have different weak points, such as gutter joints, trims and the line where an extension meets the old wall, and both kinds of building are found across London.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months.

Why it’s worth doing now in Notting Dale
Water from a leaking joint hits the same spot every time. Over time that can stain brickwork, mark render and encourage damp so early sealing is worthwhile. Damp from a failed joint spreads quietly in older London brickwork and timber, and once it shows in Notting Dale, the repair is bigger than a sealant job.
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

What we are called out for in Notting Dale
Roofline sealant ages in sun and rain. It hardens, shrinks and splits after some years.
It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:
- Internal damp traced to a gutter joint
- Cracked sealant along roofline trims
- Water running down the wall below the gutter
- Old gutter sealant that has let go
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Thomas Jones Primary School, movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s.

Your questions about gutter sealing in Notting Dale
Is parking an issue for gutter sealing in Notting Dale?
In much of London, parking needs planning: a visitor permit or a bay close to the door helps a lot.
Is Notting Dale in your area for gutter sealing?
Yes, Notting Dale is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
Will you leave a mess?
Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
How do I get a quote for gutter sealing in Notting Dale?
We don’t publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. We agree the price before any work begins.
Which products do you use?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice.
Will there be a smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little, and any smell fades as they cure.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.
How long should I leave it?
Many sealants skin over quickly but take longer to cure fully. We will give you the cure time for the product we used.
How the job changes by surface
uPVC fascias
Fascia board joints can open up. They’re sealed tidily in a suitable colour.
Soffit joints
Soffits sit under the eaves, where joints can open up. We seal them to close the gaps.
When something else is needed
In fairness, some problems need a different trade:
- Guttering that needs replacing
- Brackets that have snapped or loosened
- Roof leaks, slipped tiles or failed flashing (a roofer’s job)
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly.

Outside joints around Notting Dale
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, though outdoor sealant still has to go onto a dry joint, so the forecast decides the day. In terraces and conversions, gutters and walls are often shared with the neighbours, so check who is responsible for the outside before booking.
As a London address, Notting Dale can be tricky for parking: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when you book. For landlords with property near Shepherds Bush station, leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
Aftercare tips
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Get leaks sealed before the wet months
- Clean out the gutters once or twice a year
- Get a dropping gutter looked at quickly
- Watch the wall under the gutters for staining
A sagging gutter needs its brackets checked. Movement will pull the joints open again.
Leaking gutter joints get worse over time. Water keeps hitting the same part of the wall and that can cause damp inside.
