Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Moscow

We don’t replace gutters, fascias or roofs. What sealant does is close joints; it won’t fix a broken bracket, a cracked section or a blocked downpipe. If you have rain getting in around a garage door and old gutter sealant that has let go, we can help.

Across smaller places in Scotland, stone and harled cottages, farm buildings and newer houses often stand exposed to wind and rain. Outside joints on exposed walls work hard, so they need a sealant that moves with the building.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

How we quote for gutter sealing

Your quote is based on your job. We look at:

  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • The type of sealant required
  • Access and height

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we will explain what it covers.

What to tell us for a quote

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:

  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • Where the property is

For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or send an email if you’d rather. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will talk you through the work.

Moscow buildings and the weather

Under the Repairing Standard, private landlords in Scotland have to keep homes wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that. The west of Scotland is wetter than the east, so there’s plenty of rain for gutter, fascia and roofline joints to keep out.

If you look after a building such as Loudoun Academy, its movement joints, gutters and trims need looking after like any other building’s.

Questions from Moscow

Do you cover Moscow for gutter sealing?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Moscow is part of that. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.

I let a flat near Kilmarnock station. Can you help?

Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Is it OK to seal over old sealant?

No, and we never do. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new bead soon lifts. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.

Is it possible to stop a gutter joint dripping with sealant?

In most cases, yes. If the gutter is sagging or cracked, sealing will not last and we’ll say so.

How much does gutter sealing cost in Moscow?

Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Call for a quick quote.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes, every time. New silicone does not stick to old silicone, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.

Will you leave a mess?

Not at all. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.

Do you work on high-level gutters?

Single-storey and low-level gutters are straightforward. For higher work, tell us about access and we will confirm what’s needed.

How the job changes by surface

Gutter end caps

End caps are resealed where they meet the gutter once clean and dry.

Roofline trims

Trims along the roofline are often finished with sealant. When it splits, water can get behind.

Aftercare tips

How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Look at the gutters while it’s raining
  • Keep ladders off the guttering
  • Do not leave a sagging gutter
  • Check fascia and soffit joints for gaps

Have a look at the gutter during a downpour now and then. Drips are easiest to spot while it’s raining.

A leaking garage frame lets water reach stored items. Resealing the frame is a quick job.

The process

You do not need to clear the whole room or building before we come, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run for a typical job. For a place like Moscow, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

  1. First we trace the drip and check the gutter isn’t damaged.
  2. The old sealant and dirt are cleaned out of the joint.
  3. We dry the joint so the new sealant can bond.
  4. A gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
  5. We check the run and clear debris near the joints.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • Let us know about parking restrictions
  • Move anything stored near the joints

What we can’t put right

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Leaks from the roof rather than a joint
  • Downpipes that are blocked or broken
  • Cracked, split or warped gutter sections

If you are not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we seal

  • Soffit joints
  • Gutter end caps
  • Roofline trims
  • Garage door frames
  • uPVC fascias
  • Gutter joints

Should I try it myself first?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
