Gutter Sealing in Hamister
Our applicators work in Hamister on sealing leaking gutter joints, end caps, fascias, soffits and roofline trims. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly.
- Trim joints where the sealant has failed
- Internal damp traced to a gutter joint
- Wet patches on the wall under a gutter joint
How we quote for gutter sealing
Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:
- When we can work, for business premises
- Which sealant suits the joint
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you an honest view and a quote.
Helping us quote
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Try to tell us:
- The type of property
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- Where the property is
Getting a quote is simple: tell us what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand.
How we handle gutter sealing in Hamister
It’s easy to live with a dripping gutter joint, but each shower sends water to the same place. Sealing it is quick if the gutter is otherwise in good order. We work on soffit joints, gutter joints and garage door frames, and people most often call us about water running down the wall below the gutter and open joints in fascias and soffits.
External sealant needs dry surfaces, so outdoor work around Hamister is planned around the weather. Tell us how to reach each wall, gutter and roofline.
We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

What we are called out for in Hamister
Debris in the gutter keeps water sitting at the joints. Water that can’t drain works its way through a weak joint and drips through.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Old sealant on roofline trims that has split
- Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
- Rain getting in around a garage door
- Gaps along fascia and soffit joints
For jobs in and around Hamister, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish.

How it works
There is not much for you to do on the day. Show us the job and we’ll take it from there. The work itself takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access from start to finish. In smaller Scottish places, parking is usually less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints.
- We start by tracing the leak and checking the gutter itself is sound.
- The joint or trim is cleaned out and old sealant removed.
- The joint is dried, because sealant will not bond to a wet surface.
- We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters and outdoor use.
- The run is checked and any debris near the joints is cleared.
How to prepare
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Mention any tricky access

Advice
What happens if it’s left?
Replacing guttering is a much bigger job than sealing joints. If the gutter is sound and the drip is a joint, resealing is the sensible fix. If it’s broken or sagging, a gutter installer needs to look. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
What it costs depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. We give a clear quote before we start, so you know where you stand.

Hamister buildings and the weather
Hamister is close to the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. That’s hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface.
In and around Hamister, as anywhere, good gutter sealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Hamister questions
Is Hamister in your area for gutter sealing?
Yes, Hamister is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.
Does the coastal weather in Hamister affect outside sealant?
Near the coast, wind-driven rain and, nearer the shore, salt air make outside sealant work harder. Choosing the right sealant for the frame and wall, laid at the right depth, helps it last.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator, and we’re fully insured.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are glad to have it sorted.
Can landlords and businesses book you?
Yes, we do. We work in homes, commercial premises and hotels.
How long does gutter sealing take?
A typical job takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run, including the preparation. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.
Should I try DIY first?
It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.
Will there be a smell?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure, but it fades. Opening a window helps.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
