Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Gremista
Across Gremista, we reseal gutter joints, end caps and roofline trims. Single-storey and low gutters are simple to reach and if it’s higher up, let us know and we will confirm what access is needed. Common call-outs are for open joints in fascias and soffits and quick sealant fixes on gutters that didn’t last, across roofline trims, gutter end caps and garage door frames.
Older stone buildings need a sealant that suits the stone, not an acetoxy product that can mark or attack it. Newer houses need their movement joints and roofline trims kept sound.
Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, large or small.

What happens on the day
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and explain the cure time. The visit itself generally takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access, depending on the amount of work. Somewhere like Gremista may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- First we trace the drip and check the gutter is not damaged.
- The old sealant and dirt are cleaned out of the joint.
- We dry the joint so the new sealant can bond.
- We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters.
- The gutter is checked and debris around the joints cleared.
How to prepare
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Tell us if parking is tricky

Advice
Walls and rooflines in Gremista
Gremista is within about 1 mile of the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. Both are hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, which can dry out and crack sooner where a building faces the weather. Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and sound outside sealant is part of that.
Managing a site like Anderson High School? Then its movement joints, gutters and trims need looking after like any other building’s.

Keeping the joints in good condition
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Keep the gutters clear of debris
- Keep an eye out for wet patches below a joint
- Do not leave a sagging gutter
- Check fascia and soffit joints for gaps
Make sure downpipes are not blocked, so water can get away. Blockages push water back along the gutter.
The sooner a gutter leak is sealed, the less water reaches the wall. We will let you know if the gutter needs more than sealant.
DIY versus a professional finish
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
FAQs for Gremista
Can you do gutter sealing in Gremista?
Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Gremista is part of that. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear price.
Is Gremista within the area you cover?
Yes. Gremista is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, including the islands, where work is planned around ferry crossings. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Does someone need to be in?
That depends on where the joints are. Inside work needs someone to give us access, and for outside work we will agree access with you when we book.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we are part of it.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us and we’re fully insured.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done and you will get one quote.
Can sealant stop a sagging gutter leaking?
Not on its own. If the gutter sags, the joints keep opening so it needs refixing before sealing.
Will it make a mess?
Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.
What we cannot put right
We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- Fascias that need replacing
- Water backing up from a blocked pipe
- Roof leaks, slipped tiles or failed flashing (a roofer’s job)
Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
Surfaces we seal

How we quote for gutter sealing
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- How many areas need sealing
- The type of sealant required
- The size of the job
- Any working-time requirements on site
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.
Helping us quote
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- Where the property is
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- The problem you’ve noticed
To get a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. You will have a clear quote before we start.
Common problems we fix in Gremista
Sealant on fascias and trims weathers like any outdoor joint. It hardens, shrinks and splits after some years.
It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:
- Damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter
- Gaps along fascia and soffit joints
- Old gutter sealant that has let go
- Water running down the wall below the gutter
For an older house near a landmark such as St Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, an extension built onto an older house moves differently, and the joint between them takes the strain.
Comparing quotes
- Which colour the sealant will be
- What product goes in the joint
- How the joint is cleaned and prepared
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
