Trusted gutter sealing in Chapel

Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Chapel

Gaps along uPVC fascias and soffits look untidy and can let in water and draughts. We seal them in a colour to suit where possible. We are often asked to deal with dripping gutter ends and old gutter sealant that has let go, on gutter end caps, garage door frames and roofline trims.

Stone walls need a stone-friendly sealant, as acetoxy products can attack some stone. Newer houses need their movement joints and roofline trims kept sound.

You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What we do, step by step

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and explain the cure time. The work normally takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours, depending on the size of the job. In smaller Scottish places, parking is generally less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. First we trace the drip and check the gutter is not damaged.
  2. The old sealant and dirt are cleaned out of the joint.
  3. We dry the joint so the new sealant can bond.
  4. We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters.
  5. The gutter is checked and debris around the joints cleared.

Getting ready for the visit

  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

Chapel: your questions answered

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Wishaw station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Is Chapel in your area for gutter sealing?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Chapel is part of that. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.

Can a leaking gutter joint be sealed?

Most of the time. If the gutter is sagging or cracked, sealing won’t last, and we will tell you.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we are part of it.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Full insurance covers our work.

Where do you work from?

Our base is Crawley, with over 20 years’ experience. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.

Do you offer different sealant colours?

We help you choose a colour that suits. The choice depends on the product the joint needs.

How long does gutter sealing take?

Most jobs take an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run, including preparation and clearing up. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.

Why it’s worth doing now in Chapel

A dripping gutter joint keeps wetting the same patch of wall. Left, it can stain walls and lead to damp so early sealing is worthwhile. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.

Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

What you get with us

For landlords and businesses

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance.

Hotels need rooms back in use, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

Signs you need gutter sealing in Chapel

Gutter joints depend on seals that wear out. Sun and cold make the gutter expand and contract and that movement opens up tired joints.

Common reasons people contact us include:

  • Drips from gutter joints and end caps
  • Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
  • Gaps along fascia and soffit joints
  • Trim joints where the sealant has failed

Schools such as Coltness High School are buildings too, and larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing.

Comparing quotes

  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • When the joint can take water or movement

What gutter sealing looks like in Chapel

Historic houses like Cambusnethan House (about 3.5 miles west) are a reminder that the area around Chapel has older buildings as well as new. In older buildings, older brick and stone need a sealant that suits them, at the right joint depth. Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and joints where harling meets other materials need a sealant that can grip and flex.

Letting a property close to Wishaw station? Then a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside. Cambusnethan House, about 3.5 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Chapel.

DIY versus a professional finish

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Aftercare tips

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:

  • Get a dropping gutter looked at quickly
  • Sort out a dripping joint early
  • Check that water runs out of the downpipes
  • Keep an eye out for wet patches below a joint

Look at fascia and trim joints when you are checking the gutters. A small split is quicker to put right.

Rain getting in round a garage door frame can damage what’s stored inside. A reseal sorts it.
