About our gutter sealing in Bridge of Tilt
It’s easy to live with a dripping gutter joint, but the water lands on the same spot every time it rains. Sealing it is quick while the gutter is still sound. Typical jobs include water dripping where gutter sections meet and earlier gutter repairs that have peeled off, across garage door frames, roofline trims and gutter end caps.
Across smaller places in Scotland, stone and harled cottages, farm buildings and newer houses often stand exposed to wind and rain. Gutter joints and wall joints take a battering.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee in Bridge of Tilt and across Perth and Kinross.

Keeping the joints in good condition
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Make sure downpipes aren’t blocked
- Clear leaves and moss from the gutters
- Deal with a drip before winter
- Glance at the soffit joints now and then
Have a look at the gutter during a downpour. Drips are easiest to spot while it’s raining.
Leaking gutter joints get worse over time. Water keeps hitting the same part of the wall and that can cause damp inside.
When something else is needed
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Brackets that have snapped or loosened
- Boards that have decayed or split
- Water backing up from a blocked pipe
Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly.

What the job involves on each surface
Gutter joints
Joints between gutter lengths are the most common leak point. We clean, dry and reseal them.
Roofline trims
We seal the trims, not the roof. A roofer deals with the roof itself.
Can I do it myself?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
Bridge of Tilt buildings and the weather
Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface. Under the Repairing Standard, private landlords in Scotland have to keep homes wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that.
For an older house near a landmark such as Church, older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant. Letting a property close to Blair Atholl station? Then a gutter joint that drips onto the wall can turn into a damp complaint, so it’s worth checking.

How the visit works
We keep the work tidy and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can get on with your day. Expect the work to take a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. Outside jobs in Bridge of Tilt need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Work indoors isn’t affected.
- We find where the water is coming from and check the gutter is sound.
- We remove the old sealant and clean the joint.
- The joint is dried before sealing.
- We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters.
- We check the run and clear debris near the joints.
How to prepare
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints

I let a flat near Blair Atholl station. Can you help?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us.
Will it make a mess?
No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we tidy up before we go.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes, always, and completely. New sealant won’t bond properly to old, so the joint is cleaned back first.
What information do you need?
Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. Then email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Where is Mr Mastic based?

Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done.
Why act early in Bridge of Tilt
A bead squeezed onto a wet joint might hold for a while but it tends to peel off. Proper preparation is the difference. In a place like Bridge of Tilt, small leaks are easy to put off, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.
What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why we ask about the job first and agree the price before starting.
