How we quote for gutter sealing

The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • The size of the job
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • Whether the work is at height
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove

Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You will know the price before we begin.

Helping us quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:

  • The rough size of the job
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy

Every job is quoted individually. Simply send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and describe the job.

Gutter sealing in Bowmore

For gutter sealant to hold, the joint has to be clean and dry. So the old sealant and grime come out first and the joint is dried before the new sealant goes in. If you are dealing with streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint and dripping gutter ends, we can put it right, on gutter end caps, roofline trims and uPVC fascias alike.

Stone walls need a stone-friendly sealant, as acetoxy products can attack some stone. Newer houses need their movement joints and roofline trims kept sound.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What we’re called out for in Bowmore

When a gutter sags, its joints open. Sealing won’t hold if the gutter keeps dropping so the brackets need attention first.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
  • Garage door frames letting rain in
  • Leaking gutter joints and stop ends
  • Damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter

In and around Bowmore, as anywhere, good gutter sealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Gutter sealing in Bowmore: local notes

Bowmore is close to the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. Both are hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, which can dry out and crack sooner where a building faces the weather. Bowmore is in the west of Scotland, which is wetter than the east, so there’s plenty of rain for gutter, fascia and roofline joints to keep out.

Whether the job is in Bowmore itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

Questions from Bowmore

Is Bowmore in your area for gutter sealing?

Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Bowmore is part of that. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.

Is gutter sealing in a coastal place like Bowmore any different?

Near the coast, wind-driven rain and, nearer the shore, salt air make outside sealant work harder. The right product, a clean joint and the right depth all help it cope.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties at once.

Do the sealants smell?

Sometimes, a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.

Should I try DIY first?

Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.

Is it possible to stop a gutter joint dripping with sealant?

In most cases, yes. A sagging or cracked gutter needs more than sealant, and we will tell you.

Can you fit new guttering?

We do not replace gutters or fascias. We’ll tell you if the gutter needs replacing.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

What we do, step by step

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The work itself takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access from start to finish. In smaller Scottish places, parking is generally less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints.

  1. We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
  2. We clean out each joint.
  3. We make sure everything is dry.
  4. The sealant is applied and finished.
  5. We check our work before we leave.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.

Why act early in Bowmore

You do not need to replace a garage door because rain gets in round the frame. Resealing the frame joint is often enough. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Why us?

  • Tidy, careful work
  • Arbo and Everbuild products
  • Every job guaranteed for a year
  • White, clear, grey or coloured to suit, where the product allows
