Gutter, fascia & soffit sealing in Ardbeg, Argyll and Bute
Professional gutter sealing in and around Ardbeg, with old sealant always removed completely and a 12-month guarantee.
- Damp patches inside below a leaking gutter
- Water running down the wall below the gutter
- Old gutter sealant that has let go
Common problems we fix in Ardbeg
Gutter joints depend on seals that wear out. Temperature changes make gutters move, and old seals crack or slip.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter
- Water dripping where gutter sections meet
- Fascia boards with gaps between them
- Garage door frames letting rain in
In and around Ardbeg, as anywhere, good gutter sealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Gutter sealing in Ardbeg, done properly
We work across Ardbeg on leaking gutter joints and roofline trims. Low-level work is straightforward, and for higher work, tell us about access and we will confirm what’s needed. If you have earlier gutter repairs that have peeled off and gaps along fascia and soffit joints, we can put it right.
Across smaller places in Scotland, stone and harled cottages, farm buildings and newer houses often stand exposed to wind and rain. Outside joints on exposed walls work hard.
Our work is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

Should I try it myself first?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
Ardbeg questions
Can you do gutter sealing in Ardbeg?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Ardbeg is part of that. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.
Is gutter sealing in a coastal place like Ardbeg any different?
Coastal homes put outside sealant through more weather than inland ones, so preparation and the right sealant matter all the more. It’s worth checking the walls that face the sea first.
When is the sealant fully cured?
It depends on the product. Before we leave, we will tell you the cure time.
Do you work on high-level gutters?
Low-level work is easiest. For anything higher, we will confirm what access is needed once we know more.
Is it worth trying it myself?
Sometimes. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.
Do you guarantee gutter sealing?
Our 12-month guarantee applies to all our work.
Can you seal over the old sealant?
No, it won’t last. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new bead soon lifts. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.
Is sealant enough for a gutter that has dropped?
Sealing a sagging joint will not last. A gutter installer needs to refix it.

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.
Looking after it afterwards
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Watch the wall under the gutters for staining
- Get leaks sealed before the wet months
- Have sagging gutters refixed early
- Keep the gutters clear of debris
Give the sealant the cure time we tell you before poking or cleaning near it.
A leaking garage frame lets water reach stored items. A reseal sorts it.
Leave it or put it right?
Sealant will not clear a blocked downpipe. We check the cause first and point you to the right trade if needed. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

Outside joints around Ardbeg
Ardbeg is close to the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. That’s hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. Under the Repairing Standard, private landlords in Scotland have to keep homes wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that.
Whether the job is in Ardbeg itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

What we do, step by step
Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours, and the area is left clean. Somewhere like Ardbeg may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- First, we find the drip and check the gutter isn’t cracked or sagging.
- The joint or trim is cleaned out and old sealant removed.
- The area is dried so the sealant can bond.
- We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters and outdoor use.
- We check the run and clear any debris we find while we’re there.
Before we arrive
- Move anything stored near the joints
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
