Aftercare tips

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:

  • Keep ladders off the guttering
  • Watch the wall under the gutters for staining
  • Clear leaves and moss from the gutters
  • Get a dropping gutter looked at quickly

A sagging gutter needs its brackets checked. If it drops, the joints will open.

A drip from a gutter joint will not stop on its own. The same spot gets soaked every time it rains, which can lead to staining and damp.

About our gutter sealing in Balloch

Open fascia and soffit joints spoil the roofline and can let weather in. We seal them in a colour to suit where one is available. If you have old gutter sealant that has let go and streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint, we can put it right.

Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Balloch depends on the weather. Let us know about access to every wall and roofline.

You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything is not right with it, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What sealant work can’t fix

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Problems with the roof covering
  • Guttering that needs replacing
  • Boards that have decayed or split

If you are not sure, just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer.

What we seal

  • Soffit joints
  • Gutter joints
  • Garage door frames
  • Gutter end caps
  • Roofline trims
  • uPVC fascias

Should I try it myself first?

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

Common questions in Balloch

Is Balloch within the area you cover?

Yes, Balloch is covered. We work across all of Scotland, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Do you work for landlords with property near Inverness Airport station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Do you replace gutters or fascias?

Replacement isn’t our trade. We’ll tell you if the gutter needs replacing.

How do I get a quote for gutter sealing in Balloch?

We don’t publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. We agree the price before any work begins.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes, we can. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.

Is it messy?

Tidy work is part of the job. Nearby surfaces are protected, and the area is left clean when we finish.

Will sealant fix a dripping gutter joint?

Often, yes. Cleaning, drying and resealing the joint normally works. If the section is split or warped, it needs replacing.

What do you need from me for a quote?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

How the job changes by surface

Gutter end caps

Stop ends hold back water at the end of a run. When their seal fails, they drip.

Soffit joints

Gaps at soffit joints can let in draughts and insects. A neat seal closes them.

Why act early in Balloch

Sealant will not clear a blocked downpipe. We look at what’s really happening and tell you if something else is needed. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. We will give you a clear quote for the lot.

Outside joints around Balloch

Balloch is close to the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. Both are hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, which can dry out and crack sooner where a building faces the weather. Balloch is in the west of Scotland, which is wetter than the east, so there’s plenty of rain for gutter, fascia and roofline joints to keep out.

Rented homes near Inverness Airport station change hands often, and a gutter joint that drips onto the wall can turn into a damp complaint, so it’s worth checking. If you look after a building such as Culloden Academy, larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing. If you live in an older home near Barn Church, older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant.

How it works

You don’t need to clear the whole room or building before we come, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the work takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run for a typical job. Outside jobs in Balloch need a dry day, because sealant won’t bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.

  1. We start by tracing the leak and checking the gutter itself is sound.
  2. We clean out the joint and take out the old sealant.
  3. The joint is dried, because sealant won’t bond to a wet surface.
  4. Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
  5. We look along the gutter and clear debris around the joints.

Before we arrive
