About our gutter sealing in Westhill

We don’t replace gutters, fascias or roofs. Sealant fixes joints; it won’t fix a broken bracket, a cracked section or a blocked downpipe. If you have stop ends leaking at the end of a run and fascia boards with gaps between them, we can put it right, on uPVC fascias, gutter joints and garage door frames alike.

Stone walls need a stone-friendly sealant, as acetoxy products can attack some stone. Newer houses need their movement joints and roofline trims kept sound.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Can I do it myself?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Deal with a drip before winter
  • Watch the wall under the gutters for staining
  • Check fascia and soffit joints for gaps
  • Clean out the gutters once or twice a year

Leave the new sealant to cure as we advise and avoid disturbing it.

Leaking gutter joints get worse over time. Water keeps hitting the same part of the wall, which can lead to staining and damp.

Your questions about gutter sealing in Westhill

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Inverness station?

Yes, we work for landlords and agents. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before work begins.

Will you come out to Westhill?

Yes, Westhill is covered. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Is sealant enough for a gutter that has dropped?

No. If the gutter sags, the joints keep opening, so the brackets need fixing first.

Is gutter cleaning part of the job?

We clear what’s around the joints we work on. A full clean of the gutters isn’t part of it.

Do you replace gutters or fascias?

We do not replace gutters or fascias. If a gutter is broken or sagging, we will tell you so you can call the right trade.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, and it’s something we never do.

How do I get a quote for gutter sealing in Westhill?

The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Ask us for a quote.

How long does the job take?

A typical job takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run, including the preparation. We will confirm how long when we quote.

Honest limits

Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we will tell you before any work starts. It won’t solve:

  • Cracked, split or warped gutter sections
  • Water backing up from a blocked pipe
  • Fascias that need replacing

If you are not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • uPVC fascias
  • Roofline trims
  • Soffit joints
  • Gutter joints
  • Gutter end caps
  • Garage door frames

Different surfaces, different methods

Gutter end caps

A leaking end cap sends water straight down the wall. It’s a small job to fix.

Gutter joints

Gutter joints move and sit in water. A dedicated gutter sealant suits them.

What happens on the day

Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access and we leave things clean and tidy. For a place like Westhill, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

  1. We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
  2. We clean out each joint.
  3. The joints are dried.
  4. The sealant is applied and finished.
  5. We check our work before we leave.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

Outside joints around Westhill

Westhill is close to the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. That is hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. The west of Scotland is wetter than the east, which means gutter, fascia and roofline joints has to cope with a lot of rain.

For landlords with property near Inverness station, leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls. Managing a site like Culloden Academy? Then movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s.

Quotes for gutter sealing in Westhill

Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • The size of the job

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, as water and mould keep getting in. If you are unsure, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

Asking for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • The type of property

It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will explain how we’d tackle it. When it suits you, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What happens if it’s left?

You do not need to replace a garage door because rain gets in round the frame. Resealing the frame joint is often enough. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.
