Quotes for glazing silicone in Wivelrod
You will get a clear quote before we start. It takes into account:
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- The size of the job
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- Whether the work is at height
No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference.
What to tell us for a quote
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Try to tell us:
- A few photos by email, if you can
- How we’d reach the joints

- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
Getting a quote is simple: let us know what needs doing and where and its rough size. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand, and we will take it from there.
Glazing silicone in Wivelrod
Across Wivelrod, we reseal glazing joints in homes, offices and hotels. From conservatories to shower screens, it’s the same careful method. We work on conservatory frames, rooflights and glass-to-glass joints, and the jobs we see most are leaks where conservatory glass meets the frame and shower screens leaking along the wall or tray.
Homes in small places like Wivelrod often stand in the open, with little to shelter their windows from wind and rain. Exposed frames and sills lose their mastic sooner than sheltered ones.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, in Wivelrod and everywhere else we cover.

How the visit works
We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes anything from an hour or two to most of a day, depending on the size of the job, and the area is left clean. For a village or hamlet like Wivelrod, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We trace the leak and confirm it’s a sealant joint.
- The failed silicone is cut out without marking the glass or frame.
- The joint is cleaned and degreased.
- A neutral-cure glazing silicone is applied and tooled.
- Each joint is checked and, where possible, water-tested.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Let us know about parking restrictions

Surface by surface
Shower screens
Silicone holds the water in on frameless screens. We reseal without scratching the glass.
Rooflights
Rooflight glazing joints are cut out and renewed. Leaks from the roof itself need a roofer.
Should I try it myself first?
Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Get a new leak looked at quickly
- Stick to mild cleaners on glass
- Run a squeegee over the glass when you are done
- Use gentle products around the joints
Avoid scraping near the new silicone when cleaning the glass. Stick to a soft cloth.
Cracked glazing silicone means the joint has failed. Resealing now is a small job compared with fixing water damage later.
Frames and glazing around Wivelrod
Compared with the north and west, the South East gets less rain, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast. With historic houses such as Bentworth Hall (about 0.8 miles north-west) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around Wivelrod as well as newer homes. Where a home is older, older timber frames in brick or stone need a different approach from a modern uPVC window.
In the older streets around Chapel of Alton Abbey, frames set in older brick or stone need a sealant that suits the wall as well as the frame. Rented homes near Alton station change hands often, and leaking glazing joints, shower screens or conservatory seals are worth sorting between tenancies.

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the property, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Always. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, and it’s something we never do.

A neutral-cure glazing silicone suited to glass and the frame. In bathrooms, we use anti-fungal silicone.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
