About our bathroom resealing in Wendover

Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Wendover. We are fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and every job carries our one-year guarantee. We are often asked to deal with cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone and gaps between the worktop and the wall, across shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & upstands and basins & vanity units.

Homes around Wendover range from older cottages to more recent houses. Older homes can move a little with the seasons, which is hard on tired sealant and rigid grout.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee.

Different surfaces, different methods

Sinks & splashbacks

Splashbacks in glass, tile or acrylic meet the worktop in a long joint. It’s resealed in white, clear or a colour to suit.

Shower trays & enclosures

If a tray moves underfoot, new silicone won’t last. Movement is checked before anything is resealed, and if the tray needs refixing, we’ll say so.

How to look after the new joints

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
  • Don’t let bottles sit on the bead
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering

In a kitchen, do not let water sit along the back of the worktop and keep hot pans away from the silicone. The drier the joint stays, the longer it lasts.

Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.

How the visit works

Every visit runs the same way: we check the joints, protect the area around them, do the work and clear up. Most jobs take half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. A visit to Wendover is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. Outdoor jobs depend on a dry day, since sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Advice

Bathroom resealing around Wendover

Wendover has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

Managing a site like The John Hampden School? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. If you let a flat or house near Wendover station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay. Homes close to Parish Church of St Mary include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Wendover

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the address, the job and how access works.

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

DIY versus a professional finish

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

Wendover: your questions answered

Do you work for landlords with property near Wendover station?

Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Do you work for hotels and guest houses in Wendover?

Yes, hotels and guest houses are among the places we work. A room-by-room programme keeps most rooms in use while the work goes on.

Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?

Yes. Worktops, sinks and splashbacks are all part of the job, in a kitchen-suitable sealant, matched to the worktop where it’s on show.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes, by replacing the sealant. Sprays can fade the marks, but cutting it out and resealing is what lasts. Airing the room well helps stop it returning.

How long does a bath or shower reseal take?

That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. Allow a couple of hours for a typical bath or shower.

What sealant do you use?

The product depends on the job: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.

Where are you based?

We’re based in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Do you guarantee your resealing?

Yes. Our 12-month guarantee covers every job, and we’re ARBOMaster approved applicators.

What affects the quote in Wendover

Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • The size of the job
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • How many areas need sealing
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with

Combining jobs into one visit usually makes better use of the time than several visits. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

Asking for a quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • The type of property
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Photos by email, if that is easy
  • The address or postcode of the job

Getting a quote is simple: tell us what needs doing and where. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand.

Leave it or put it right?

A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, and that is a far bigger job than a reseal. In a smaller place like Wendover, wherever a wall is exposed, a failed outside joint is a real source of damp. Inside, a split seal lets water into floors and panels just as it would anywhere.

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we will explain what it covers.
