Vidlin Bathroom Resealing
Problem with your baths, showers and worktops in Vidlin? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
Bathroom resealing in Vidlin, done properly
A fresh bead of silicone changes how a bathroom looks more than most people expect. Black, patchy sealant makes clean tiles look tired, and a clean white or clear joint fixes it quickly. It also seals the gaps that let water behind the bath. We work on shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are smears of silicone across the tiles and water getting behind the bath panel.
In and around a place like Vidlin, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.
We stand behind the work with a 12-month guarantee.

How to look after the new joints
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Squeegee the walls and tray after use
Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the bead dries out between uses.
Small signs come before a leak: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.

Questions from Vidlin
Is there a guarantee on bathroom resealing in Vidlin?
All our work, in Vidlin and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Is Vidlin within the area you cover?
Yes. Vidlin is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland, including the islands, where work is planned around ferry crossings. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Just the basics: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. After that, simply email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
Do the sealants smell?
Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures.
How long does a bath or shower reseal take?
One bath or shower is around two hours’ work, old sealant removal included. A full bathroom and kitchen can take most of a day.
Does someone need to be in?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
What sealant do you use?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.
The process
All our tools and materials come with us in the van. After a quick look at the joints together, the area is protected and the work begins. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Around Vidlin, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work, and the visit is planned around that.
- We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- Mention any tricky access
How to get a quote
Every job is quoted individually. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details and send pictures if you have them.
Advice
Signs you need bathroom resealing in Vidlin
Mould is the reason many people want their sealant replaced. Steamy rooms that do not dry out keep the silicone damp for hours, and mould that has grown into the silicone generally will not clean off.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
- Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
Whether the job is in Vidlin itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.
Comparing quotes
- When the joint can take water or movement
- What the quote includes, VAT included or not
- Whether the sealant suits the joint

Why it’s worth doing now in Vidlin
Sorting it now is quick: it takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. Wait for a leak and you may be looking at panels off, drying out and redecorating too. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You’ll know the price before we begin.
Why book with us
- One-year guarantee on every job
- 20+ years of sealant experience
- You choose the colour before work begins

Bathroom resealing in Vidlin: local notes
Vidlin is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
Around Vidlin, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

When it is not the sealant
It helps to know what we cannot do too:
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
- A tray or bath that is cracked through
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before you book.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Basins & vanity units
- Baths
- Wet rooms
What the job involves on each surface
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Water behind a laminate worktop can make the edge swell. A sound joint along the back edge stops that, as long as the worktop itself is firmly fixed.
Wet rooms
Wet rooms rely on sound joints at floor and wall junctions. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, working on the surface joints, not the tanking or drainage.
