Taplow questions

Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. Just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.

Do you take on hotel work around Taplow?

Yes, hotels and guest houses are among the places we work. Rooms can be done a few at a time, so the building stays open.

Do you cover Taplow?

Yes, we do. Taplow is part of the area we cover.

Is it worth trying it myself?

Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.

Will it make a mess?

We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected, and we clear up when we are done.

Are you insured?

How long will the resealing take?

Allow a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. We’ll confirm how long your job needs when we quote.

Bathroom resealing in Taplow

Resealing is a small job that makes a big difference. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a clean white or clear joint fixes it quickly. Just as important, it closes the gaps water would otherwise get through. If you have splits where the tray meets the wall and water getting behind the bath panel, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

Homes around Taplow are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

Your job is guaranteed for a year, as with all our work.

Why act early in Taplow

Running new silicone over the old joint can look tidy for a few weeks, but it won’t bond. It lifts, traps water and grows mould behind it. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Taplow, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Taplow homes and their sealant

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Taplow. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Nicolas' Church of England Combined School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. For landlords with property near Taplow station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

When to call us in Taplow

With age, silicone loses its stretch. In kitchens it often shrinks away from the back edge, leaving a thin gap where water and food collect. Hot pans and harsh cleaners don’t help.

People normally contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall
  • Smears of silicone across the tiles
  • Leaking joints on a shower screen

Homes close to Church of St Nicolas include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Questions to ask before you book

What we can’t put right

A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:

  • Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them

If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we seal

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands

What we do, step by step

Every visit runs the same way: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, do the work and clear up. Most jobs take a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. Somewhere like Taplow needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
  5. Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.

Preparing for the visit

Advice

Landlords, agents and businesses in Taplow

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

Landlords and letting agents in Taplow can book us as well as homeowners. Resealing between tenancies is a simple way to keep a property in good order.

Surface by surface

Basins & vanity units

Vanity units have long, worktop-style joints against the wall. Water that gets behind can damage the unit, so a neat, continuous bead matters.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. We seal them in a colour that suits the worktop, so the line does not stand out.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Wait for the cure time we give you
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead

Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, following the cure time we give you. After that, a quick wipe after showering helps keep it clean.

There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.
