Sudbury Bathroom Resealing
Bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing in Sudbury, with a one-year guarantee on every job. Call for a quick quote.
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
Do you need bathroom resealing in Sudbury?
Mould is the reason many people want their sealant replaced. Steamy rooms that don’t dry out keep the silicone damp for hours, and mould that has grown into the silicone normally won’t clean off.
Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
Homes close to Church of St Andrew include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
What your quote should include
- Whether the sealant suits the joint
- Who does the work, and how experienced they are
- When the joint can take water or movement
- How hidden problems are handled
How we handle bathroom resealing in Sudbury
We fill the bath before sealing it. A full bath sits slightly lower than an empty one, so the bead is not stretched the first time someone gets in. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. Typical jobs include leaks into the floor or ceiling below and a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal, on baths, kitchen worktops & upstands and basins & vanity units.
Across London, a large share of homes are flats, conversions or mansion blocks, so a bathroom is often directly above a neighbour’s ceiling. In Sudbury, that’s a good reason to put tired sealant and grout right early.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

Sudbury questions
Can worn sealant in a flat in Sudbury cause a leak downstairs?
Yes. In a flat, water from a failed bath or shower seal has only one way to go, and that is down. A proper reseal before the leak starts is the easy fix.
Do you work in hotels near Sudbury?
Yes, we work for hotels as well as homes and businesses. Rooms can be done a few at a time, so the building stays open.
Should I try DIY first?
You can, for simple jobs. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.
Will there be a smell?
Possibly a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
Can I choose the colour of the sealant?
White and clear are the most common choices, but other colours can be used to suit tiles and worktops. Tell us what you’d like when you get in touch.
Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?
Yes. We reseal worktop upstands, sinks and splashbacks, in a kitchen-suitable sealant, matched to the worktop where it’s on show.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, with over 20 years’ experience in sealant work.
When can I use the bath or shower again?
Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.
Landlords, agents and businesses in Sudbury
We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will give you a quote.
How the visit works
You don’t need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom in most cases. Parking in much of London is by permit or pay-and-display, so it helps to know what’s near you in Sudbury. A visitor permit or a nearby bay makes the visit run more smoothly.
- We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before

DIY sealant or a professional job?
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
What the job involves on each surface
Sinks & splashbacks
Around the sink, we use a product suited to kitchens, including a food-safe sealant where that’s needed. The joint is laid neatly so it’s easy to wipe.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
The joint between worktop and wall takes splashes, crumbs and cleaning sprays. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows.
Looking after it afterwards
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Move toiletries away from the joint
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, following the cure time we give you. After that, a quick wipe after showering helps keep it clean.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.
Honest limits
In fairness, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
- A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
If you are not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
