Bathroom Resealing in St Helier
Baths, showers and worktops in St Helier need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
How we handle bathroom resealing in St Helier
Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. A full bath sits slightly lower than an empty one, so the bead is not stretched the first time someone gets in. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. We work on wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & upstands, and people most often call us about new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off.
In much of London, period terraces have been converted into flats over the years, and bathrooms were often squeezed into small rooms. Small, steamy rooms are where mould gets into sealant and grout fastest, and homes in St Helier are no different.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right with it, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

How the job changes by surface
Sinks & splashbacks
Splashbacks in glass, tile or acrylic meet the worktop in a long joint. We renew it in clear, white or a matched colour.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Upstands and back edges are cut out, cleaned of grease and resealed, since cooking leaves a film that stops silicone sticking. The extra cleaning is what makes the bead last.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
Bathrooms and kitchens in St Helier
In a London flat, water from a failed bath or shower seal can reach the neighbours below, which is why it’s worth fixing early. London has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
Letting a property close to Sutton Common station? Then a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. Homes close to St Peter's Church include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:
- Access and height
- Working hours on commercial sites
- The amount of work
- The product the joint needs
What it costs depends on how much there is to do, how much old material has to come out and access to the work. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.
Helping us quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- If someone has resealed it before
- The rough size of the job
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will explain how we’d tackle it. When it suits you, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
How to look after the new joints
How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Wait for the cure time we give you
- Don’t leave water standing on kitchen joints
- Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
- Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.
A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, and the board underneath can swell. A reseal in time can save the worktop.
What we’re called out for in St Helier
Older sealant shrinks and hardens. In kitchens it often shrinks away from the back edge, opening a hairline gap that lets water and crumbs in. Hot pans and harsh cleaners don’t help.
Look out for any of the following:
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Tweeddale Primary School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
Before you book anyone

- Are they insured?
- What happens if the job turns out different
- Who does the work, and how experienced they are
St Helier: your questions answered
Do you work for landlords with property near Sutton Common station?
Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the property, and we’ll give you a clear price.
I live in a flat in St Helier. Can a failed seal leak into the flat below?
Yes. In a flat, water from a failed bath or shower seal has only one way to go, and that’s down. Cutting out the old sealant and laying a new bead early stops it getting that far.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Just the basics: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
Is there any odour?
That depends on the sealant. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all, and any smell fades as they cure.
Will you leave a mess?
Tidy work is part of the job. We protect what’s around the joints.
How do I get a quote for bathroom resealing in St Helier?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. We agree the price before any work begins.
Do I need to be at home?
If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Which products do you use?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we’ll explain our choice.
What happens on the day
When we get to you, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. Many London jobs are in flats, so we come ready for stairs, narrow hallways and shared entrances. If the building has a concierge, managing agent or access rules, tell us when you book.
- We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead.
- Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
- We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, normally after around 24 hours.
Before we arrive
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Tell us about any water getting in
