About our bathroom resealing in Redding

With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across Redding. We are fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and every job carries our one-year guarantee. If you have sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away and splits where the tray meets the wall, we can help.

Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are normally the first signs.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

Should I try it myself first?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

Redding questions

I let a flat near Polmont station. Can you help?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Is Redding within the area you cover?

Yes, we do. We work across all of Scotland, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

What sealant do you use?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We explain the product when we quote.

Is it worth trying it myself?

For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in Redding?

The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Ask us for a quote.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, we are fully insured for domestic and commercial work.

Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?

Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so the bead comes out, the joint is treated and new anti-fungal silicone goes in.

Is white the only colour available?

We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. Where the joint is on show, we match it to the surface.

How the job changes by surface

Sinks & splashbacks

Next to the sink, the sealant has to cope with constant water, including a food-safe sealant where that’s needed. The bead is finished smooth so it wipes clean.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

The joint between worktop and wall takes splashes, crumbs and cleaning sprays. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows, so the line doesn’t stand out.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too. We can quote a run of properties together.

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.

The process

We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we are working on, so you can carry on as normal. The job usually takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. Outside jobs in Redding need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Work indoors is not affected.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area

Advice

Aftercare tips

How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead

Do not stand bottles along the bead, as they hold water against it. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use keeps water from sitting on the joint.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. A reseal in time can save the worktop.

Why it’s worth doing now in Redding

A clean new bead makes a room look cared for, which helps when a home is being let or put on the market. A smeared, uneven DIY bead does the opposite. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.

Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.

For landlords with property near Polmont station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. Managing a site like Graeme High School? Then its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. In the older streets around Brightons Parish Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

What we can’t put right

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported

If you are not sure, just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
