Bathroom Resealing in Wallacestone
We cover Wallacestone for bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
- Water escaping at the shower enclosure
What happens if it’s left?
You don’t need a new bathroom because the sealant looks bad. A new bead often brings the whole room back. If we find a deeper problem, you will hear it from us. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water through a failed joint keeps working away until it’s fixed.
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs. Ask us for a quote and we will explain what it covers.
Why book with us
- Arbo and Everbuild products
- Sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive in wet areas

Bathroom resealing in Wallacestone
A shower joint gets soaked every day. Tray edges, screen profiles and wet room joints all rely on silicone to stay watertight. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. We work on baths, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms, and people most often call us about black spots spreading through the bead and sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Wallacestone work just as hard as those in the cities. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
FAQs for Wallacestone
Do you cover smaller places like Wallacestone?
Yes, we do. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Do you cover Wallacestone for bathroom resealing?
Yes, Wallacestone is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we will send you a clear quote.
When can I use the bath or shower again?
Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or follow the cure time we give you.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes, regularly. Several properties can be quoted together.
Will it make a mess?
We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected, and we clear up when we are done.
Will there be a smell?
Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
Do you guarantee your resealing?
Yes, for 12 months. Looking after the joint as we suggest helps it last.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often happy for the work to be arranged.
What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- Access and height
- When we can work, for business premises
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That is why we ask about the job first and give you a clear quote before we start.
Helping us quote
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Photos by email, if that is easy
Call for a quick quote, or email us if that’s easier. Describe what needs sealing and we’ll talk you through the work before giving you a price.
What the job involves on each surface
Basins & vanity units
Basins take less water than showers, but the joint behind them is splashed every day. Corners behind basins are where mould tends to start, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Water behind a laminate worktop can make the edge swell. A sound joint along the back edge stops that.
The process
At the end, we look at the finished work together and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself usually takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, depending on the size of the job. Around Wallacestone, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.
- We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant, including the film left on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Mention any parking rules near the property

How to look after the new joints
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:
- Do not leave water standing on kitchen joints
- Dry the bead with a towel now and then
- Give the silicone its full cure time
- Do not let bottles sit on the bead
Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint and keep hot pans away from the silicone. A dry joint lasts longer.
Watch for the early signs: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.
When it is not the sealant
It helps to know what we can’t do:
- A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
- A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported
If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think before you book.

Bathroom resealing around Wallacestone
In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
If you look after a building such as Graeme High School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Rented homes near Polmont station change hands often, and a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. For an older house near a landmark such as Brightons Parish Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
