Bathroom resealing in Redbridge, done properly

Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Redbridge. We’re fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and every job carries our one-year guarantee. Common call-outs are for a reseal done over the top of the old bead and sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away, across kitchen worktops & upstands, wet rooms and sinks & splashbacks.

In much of London, period terraces have been converted into flats over the years, and bathrooms were often squeezed into small rooms. Small, steamy rooms are where mould gets into sealant and grout fastest, and homes in Redbridge are no different.

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, large or small.

Redbridge homes and their sealant

London’s water is hard, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. London has a lot of flats and conversions, and a failed shower or bath seal in one can show up on the ceiling below, which is why it’s worth fixing early.

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Andrew, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. As a London address, Redbridge can be tricky for parking: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when you book. Rented homes near Ilford station change hands often, and fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

Redbridge is about 2 miles north-east of Forest Gate, in Greater London. Redbridge gets the same service as everywhere we cover: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. Our Greater London coverage runs to 764 places, Redbridge among them. London is on our list too, around 8 miles away.

Work in IG4, IG1 and IG2 is quoted and booked the same way as anywhere else. Why deal with it now?

Leaving a split or mouldy bead only stores up trouble. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, and that is a far bigger job than a reseal. Damp from a failed joint spreads quietly in older London brickwork and timber, and once it shows in Redbridge, the repair is bigger than a sealant job.

Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

How it works

The work is kept neat and contained to the area we’re working on, so you can carry on as normal. Expect the work to take a couple of hours for a single bath or shower, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. In a London area like Redbridge, the main things to plan are parking and access: let us know about parking, the floor we’ll be working on and any lift or shared entrance.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Redbridge

Can parking be tricky for a visit in Redbridge?

In much of London, parking needs planning: a visitor permit or a bay close to the door helps a lot, so mention what’s available when you book.

Could a tired shower seal in my Redbridge flat affect the neighbours below?

Yes, it can. Water that gets past failed sealant or cracked grout can run under the bath or tray and show up on the ceiling below. It’s far simpler to replace tired sealant early than to deal with a neighbour’s ceiling.

Can I choose the colour of the sealant?

White, clear and a range of colours are available. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.

Do you cover Redbridge?

Yes, we do. Redbridge is part of the area we cover.

Can tenants book the work?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure your landlord agrees.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

Our base is in Crawley, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in Redbridge?

It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. For a quick quote, call 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us what needs doing and where.

Do I have to be there?

It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access, and for outside work we will agree access with you when we book.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Redbridge

There’s no set price list. What we look at:

  • The size of the job
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Whether the work is at height
  • The product the joint needs

A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

What we need to know

When you contact us, it’s useful to know:

  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • The type of property
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • Roughly how big the job is

We don’t publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, we send you a clear quote for your job. To arrange one, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

What the job involves on each surface

Shower trays & enclosures

Water often gets past the wall profile of a shower enclosure. It’s resealed along with the tray joints, sealing the side the enclosure’s instructions call for.

Basins & vanity units

A vanity top has a joint along the wall and sometimes at the sides. Water that gets behind can damage the unit, so the joint is sealed in one unbroken line.

Can I do it myself?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

For landlords and businesses

We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too in Redbridge and across Greater London. Several sites can go on one quote, and we are fully insured for the work.
