North Mundham Bathroom Resealing

Problem with your baths, showers and worktops in North Mundham? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant.

  • Smears of silicone across the tiles
  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
  • Two layers of silicone, both failing

Bathroom resealing near North Mundham

Why deal with it now?

A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, and that’s a far bigger job than a reseal. In a small place like North Mundham, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

Bathroom resealing in North Mundham, done properly

A reseal only lasts if the joint is properly prepared. The old sealant is removed to the last smear, after which the joint is degreased and any mould treated. Only once it’s dry does the new bead go on. Typical jobs include water escaping at the shower enclosure and damp behind the bath or under the tray, on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms.

For a small place like North Mundham, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, whatever its size.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Don’t leave water standing on kitchen joints
  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower

Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the bead dries out between uses.

A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning normally will not remove it. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.

Should I try it myself first?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

What happens on the day

On the day, we look over the joints with you first, so there are no surprises. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work starts. Most jobs take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. Somewhere as small as North Mundham, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
  4. We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
  5. Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Advice

When something else is needed

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve

Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will tell you honestly before booking.

North Mundham questions

Do you cover North Mundham for bathroom resealing?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and North Mundham is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us what needs doing.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Chichester station?

Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details for a clear quote.

Where are you based?

We work from Crawley. We cover North Mundham and the rest of West Sussex.

Will it make a mess?

No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

How long does a bath or shower reseal take?

It takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. We will confirm how long your job needs when we quote.

Is white the only colour available?

White and clear are the most common choices, and other colours are available to suit tiles, trays and worktops. Tell us what you’d like when you get in touch.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes, every time. New sealant won’t bond properly to old, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the product. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • The type of sealant required
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:

  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • The type of property

For a quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. We’ll send you a clear quote before any work starts.

Surface by surface

Shower trays & enclosures

A tray that rocks will split any sealant. We check for movement before we reseal, and if the tray needs refixing, we will say so.

Baths

A bath shifts slightly every time it’s filled, so it’s filled with water before the bead goes on. The joint is then laid with the bath at its lowest point and is not stretched when it’s used.

What bathroom resealing looks like in North Mundham

North Mundham is within about 3 miles of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you look after a building such as North Mundham Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. In the older streets around The Parish Church of St Stephen, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. For landlords with property near Chichester station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

North Mundham is about 2 miles south-east of Chichester, in West Sussex. Jobs in North Mundham get the same care as everywhere else we work: old sealant removed completely, careful preparation and a one-year guarantee. We work across PO20 for bathroom resealing. Streets in the area include Church Road, Fletcher Place and Palmer Place. If you are just outside North Mundham, we cover Runcton (1 mile east), Hunston (1 mile west), Merston (1 mile east), Donnington (1 mile west) and Lagness (2 miles south-east).
