How the job changes by surface
Wet rooms
A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the internal corners need silicone rather than grout. Where grout in a corner has cracked, we can replace it with sealant.
Sinks & splashbacks
Where a splashback meets the worktop, there’s a joint that catches every splash. We renew it in clear, white or a matched colour.
How we handle bathroom resealing in Hunston
Sealant is the soft line between a bath, shower or worktop and the wall. When it splits, shrinks or turns black, water gets behind it and into the wall or floor. Our team cut the old bead out completely and lay a new one in anti-fungal sanitary silicone. If you’re dealing with mouldy sealant that has gone black and new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting, we can put it right.
Homes around Hunston are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

FAQs for Hunston
Is Hunston within the area you cover?
Yes, Hunston is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
I let a flat near Chichester station. Can you help?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders, and several properties can go on one quote. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?
No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, so it peels away and hides mould and water. We always take the old sealant out completely.
When can I use the bath or shower again?
After around 24 hours in most cases. We’ll tell you the cure time for the product we used.
How much does bathroom resealing cost in Hunston?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. You will get a clear quote before any work starts.
Do I need to be at home?
If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. Once we’ve agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.
Is there any odour?
Sometimes, a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
Can I choose the colour of the sealant?
White, clear and a range of colours are available. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.
What we’re called out for in Hunston
Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Steamy rooms that do not dry out keep the silicone damp for hours, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
- Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as North Mundham Primary School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Why it’s worth doing now in Hunston
Leaving a split or mouldy bead only stores up trouble. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, and that is a far bigger job than a reseal. Around Hunston, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits. We’ll give you a clear quote for the lot.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Hunston
Hunston is within about 3 miles of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
If you live in an older home near St Leodegar's Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. For landlords with property near Chichester station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

When it is not the sealant
New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. Sealant won’t put right:
- A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will tell you honestly.
What we seal
- Wet rooms
- Baths
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Basins & vanity units
- Sinks & splashbacks
How it works
You do not need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the work takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included in most cases. In a small place like Hunston, access is usually the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking rules near the property
- Mention any tricky access
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on

Advice
DIY sealant or a professional job?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
How we quote for bathroom resealing
You’ll get a clear quote before work begins. It takes into account:
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The type of sealant required
- When we can work, for business premises
- The number and length of the joints
No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference.
What we need to know
To make quoting easier, please include:
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- If someone has resealed it before
- How we’d reach the joints
We don’t publish a price list. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To get started, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
