Bathroom resealing in New Forest, done properly

With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across New Forest. We’re fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. If you’re dealing with sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away and black spots spreading through the bead, we can help, whatever the surface.

Homes around New Forest are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.

A 12-month guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Aftercare tips

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Keep bottles off the sealant line
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower

Do not stand bottles along the bead, because they trap water against the silicone. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use helps the joint dry.

A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.

Common problems we fix in New Forest

A bath shifts a little every time it’s filled and emptied. An acrylic bath flexes under load, while a poorly supported tray can shift underfoot. That movement works at the bead until it splits or peels away.

Common reasons people contact us include:

  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall
  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • Two layers of silicone, both failing

Around New Forest, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Bathroom resealing in New Forest: local notes

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

In the older streets around Church of All Saints, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:

  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them

If you are not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we seal

  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms

How we quote for bathroom resealing

Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • Access and height
  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • How many areas need sealing

No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

Helping us quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs

The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance.

DIY versus a professional finish

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

New Forest: your questions answered

Is there a guarantee on bathroom resealing in New Forest?

Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Can you do bathroom resealing in New Forest?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and New Forest is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status, and we’re fully insured.

Which products do you use?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We explain the product when we quote.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is generally more efficient.

My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?

Yes. Once mould has grown into the silicone, it generally cannot be cleaned out for good, so the bead comes out, the joint is treated and new anti-fungal silicone goes in.

Is white the only colour available?

White and clear are the most common choices, but other colours can be used to suit tiles and worktops. Tell us what you’d like when you get in touch.

How long before the new sealant can get wet?

Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.

The process

Good joint work is mostly preparation, so that is where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it usually takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. Somewhere as small as New Forest, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

Before we arrive

  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
