Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Martin, Hampshire
Our applicators work in Martin on bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly.
- Water getting behind the bath panel
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
Bathroom resealing in Martin, done properly
Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the new joint is not pulled apart the first time it’s used. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. We are often asked to deal with black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off and gaps between the worktop and the wall, on basins & vanity units, wet rooms and baths.
Around Martin, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.
A 12-month guarantee comes as standard.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Martin
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
Around Martin, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it. Homes close to Church of All Saints include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

What affects the quote in Martin
Your quote is based on your job. We look at:
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- When we can work, for business premises
- Access and height
- The amount of work
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.
We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies keeps a property looking cared for.
Surface by surface
Wet rooms
Wet room floors move slightly as they’re used, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Cracked grout in a corner can be cut out and replaced with silicone.
Basins & vanity units
Vanity units have long, worktop-style joints against the wall. If water gets in, the cabinet underneath can swell, so the joint is sealed in one unbroken line.
DIY versus a professional finish
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
Looking after it afterwards
Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.
A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.
What sealant work can’t fix
In fairness, there are a few things sealant will not fix:
- Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
If you are not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we do, step by step
Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we do not rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. In a small place like Martin, access is normally the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on
